LoglineGold seeker Salomon cheerfully wanders the sands when he discovers a giant submarine and by accident releases it’s fanatical German crew who have long passed the age of re-tirement…

SynopsisSurrounded by endless horizons we wander the sands together with gold seeker Salomon (60), whose Jewish appearance is almost a caricature. He cheerfully whistles along with the Klezmer song on his portable radio, while his detector sweeps the wet sand.

Then his detector goes off, and Salomon finds himself face to face with a rusty periscope sticking out of the sand. His astonishment grows as the periscope starts to follow his movements. When a pounding noise is being produced from the hold under the ground Sa-lomon decides to grab his spade and save this strange form of life before the tide will turn.

Finally, he discovers the hatch of what seems to be a giant submarine and opens it. He is in for the shock of his life when he finds he has just released its fanatical German crew who have long passed the age of retirement…

BiographyRob Lücker graduated as a director and scenarist from the HKU University of the Arts in Utrecht in 2007. In 2008 his graduation film Škoda won the Talent&Pro Award at the Neth-erlands Film Festival. “Every shot is like a painting” according to the jury, and “every scene is right in timing, image and actions”. Škoda was also selected for the international compe-tition during Amsterdam Shorts!. In 2010 Rob wrote and directed the short film Walzer that premiered at Imagine 27th Amsterdam Fantastic Film Festival 2011. In the same year he won the 48-hour film project Amsterdam with the film The Vis It. In 2012 he won The Pitch by Shorts.tv with the film plan for Das Wad. In 2013 he directed the dark comical film Ver-zet, which was selected for the Golden Calf competition at the Netherlands Film Festival. In 2014 he directed Das Wad, which won the Golden Calf, the Grand Prize of Dutch Film, for best short film.
