Human Capital DevelopmentTwo platforms of delivery have been designed1. Program for Manufacturing Excellence (PRIME)

– Designed to effect measurable improvement of manufacturing processes at company level.

– Foster spirit of innovation through cooperation in order for companies to be able to realize their competitive strength

– Honors, MSc and PhD students are placed at industry for a defined period to diagnose and develop solutions for identified weaknesses.

– Different methodologies are being used; (International Benchmarking and Value Stream Mapping)

– Currently there are 63 students in the program in 23 companies at the total value of R3.8m for the next 12 months.

– Both tier 2 and 3 automotive suppliers and 3 provinces would be the beneficiaries of the

2. LEADING EXPERT ACCESS PROGRAM (LEAP)• This is an intervention designed for purposes of ensuring that

institutions have an access to leading experts that may not be residing in SA

• It meant to create new and build existing relationships.• Create opportunities for business development

Criteria• Industry wide impact• Uniqueness of the skills of an expert• Skills transfer and sustainability

AMTS fund the entire project.
