Darryl & Becky Jordan New Tribes Mission Philippines Recently there's been a reshuffling of people here in the Philippines. That has left a vacancy at our NTM guest house on the island of Mindanao. After much prayer, we do feel the Lord is leading us in this direction. While it is difficult to think about leaving our church, neighbors, and community business/professional people, and even Stephen and Ginger’s family who live three hours’ drive north of us; our hearts were prompting us that we wanted to be available to serve where we would be most needed and most effective with New Tribes Mission. We feel it would be a good fit for us. The guesthouse is about the same size as the one we managed here. And, as here, we would be servicing several families working in remote tribal locations.

At about the same time our grandson asked us to come home and officiate at his wedding so we will be coming for a short "home assignment". We plan to be in the Oregon area in May, June and July, initially arriving in Vancouver, BC and then working our way south. We plan to be in Roseburg May 19.

After the wedding in late July we will travel to the East coast. Becky's mom died last December and we need to touch base with Becky's sister in Connecticut. After that we will return to the Philippines in August.

I have been getting up early for my Catholic devotions and my personal ones. I recently became aware that some of the Catholics I work with are very devout. There are prescribed historical, poetical and gospel readings often with a commentary which they read. The readings are often brief. Scripture portions are skipped. Sometimes the commentaries are excellent. At other times they put their own spin on it. I do it so I know what they are reading and try to use their current scripture readings to discuss biblical truth. We are busy packing for furlough. It is stressful as we are renting and have to move out completely, but we are fortunate that NTM does have a place we can store stuff. We will be going to China on Friday. For us to get our visa, we have to state we will do no religious activities there.
