DARR83 Digital Wireless Audio Processor Industry’s First Wireless Audio Processor with Tri-Band Support and an Embedded Multi-Channel USB 2.0 Audio Controller Summary The DARR83 audio baseband processor is at the heart of Microchip’s next generation of wireless audio solutions. Multiple innovative technologies, including Microchip’s Wireless DNA Detect ‘n Avoid architecture, deliver excellent co-existence with other wireless products such as Wi-Fi® and Bluetooth® without impacting the robust wireless audio link. This tri-band technology yields excellent wireless performance, even when the DARR83 is co-located with Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n technology. The DARR83 offers a multi-point to multi-point HD wireless audio platform for consumer electronics including home entertainment, PC and gaming console/headset applications, among others. A DWAM83-TB reference design is available and can easily be applied to the afore- mentioned applications.* The DARR83 supports both SD and HD audio links, offering a wide range of sample rates (from 24 to 96 kHz) and resolutions (from 16 to 24 bits). The integrated USB 2.0 PHY and controller offer a bi-directional, multi-stream audio interface. This feature enables the DARR83 to act as a USB audio device with the capability to support up to eight mono audio channels. The DARR83 integrates many automated functions such as seamless RF band switching, RF channel selection, transmitter/receiver association and low-power audio snooze mode. This robust feature set facilitates easy product integration and provides end users with a simple, reliable and intuitive wireless audio solution.
