Darien Youth Hockey Association – What We Believe

➢ Participation in team sports can be an important ingredient in healthy youth maturation

➢ Generate self-esteem and good sportsmanship through skills development in a positive social environment

➢ Travel - DYHA is committed to striking the right balance between striving to be among the most competitive program in its respective tiers, attract the strongest coaches and retain its strongest players, while remaining true to its commitment of being largely a community-based program

➢ House - league play is organized to achieve a learning and recreational atmosphere featuring equal ice time for all and intramural competition among players of similar abilities

➢ As a nonprofit, volunteer organization, DYHA is dependent on the commitment of parents and others

➢ Friends of DYHA - The Association provides financial assistance to many participants who would otherwise be excluded from the great game of hockey

➢ Above all, we try to assure that youth hockey is fun!

➢ 16 Member Board – Provides Operational Expertise and Strategic Guidance

➢ Friends of DYHA – Provides Financial Assistance For Those In Need

DYHA GIRLS TRAVEL PROGRAM – CT ICE CATS➢ Total of 187 girls registered

➢ 81% of Ice Cats are DYHA members

➢ 12 Ice Cats Teams ranging in age from U8 to U19

➢ T1 Offering at U12 and U14 Level

➢ 24 coaches total, 17 paid, 6 new this season

➢ Almost 50% of coaches are female, 5 added this season which is a priority

➢ Coaching staffs include local area HS coaches

➢ Operating Agreement with NewCanaan Winter Club
