PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE CELLULAR SALES, INC., 03/12 – Present Network Architect, Sr. Network Engineer, Team Lead

Tasked with the creation of an enterprise Datacenter; Identified requirements, established a plan, evaluated and presented the critical steps and the sequence needed for separation from an existing MSP. Developed new network architecture and design based on business and technical requirements. Designed a tier 3 Datacenter using F5, Cisco; Catalyst, ASA, ISR, ASR, Nexus, USC, VMWare ESXi, and Dell Compellent technologies. Created the project plan (300 days, $2.75M), to implement and migrate from the MSP to the new Datacenter network. Selected a Datacenter hosting site and implemented the new network Datacenter project. Collaborated with vendors and teams to refine design aspects and budget. Installed and configured every component of the 2x core, 5x USC pods, 5x SANs, 3x DMZ Datacenter project within the project timelines and budget. Tasked with creating the new national headquarters building network; Established technical requirements based off business requirements. Designed the LAN, WAN, Wifi and video networks. Designed the computer room layout, cable plant, power distribution, flooring, cooling needs, MFD and cabinets, etc. Worked with leadership, vendors and teams refining the budget and design. Wrote the project plan (58 days, $1.2M). Lead the project teams and contractors; Wifi (internal, external, and guest), low voltage cable plant, video content network, LAN (300+ users, 3 floors), WAN and DMZ implementation teams, UPS and power distribution. Project completed on time, on budget with no major roadblocks or setbacks. Selected as a board member of the transition team. Tasked with stabilizing and securing corporate WAN; Working with previously unknown technologies (Fortinet and Dell) and an undocumented topology completed a network discovery (450+ sites). Documented and formally presented findings to stakeholders and consulting team members. Documented corporate data flows, including IPSEC, WiFi, Credit Card Holder Data, and VoIP networks. Identified and implemented workarounds for 9 previously undocumented defects (bugs) in a failing national deployment of IPSec on Fortinet firewalls. Resolved MSP implementation issues spanning a wide scope of networking technologies (OSFP, VPN, WiFi, 4G LTE). Standardized an IPSec VPN configuration template that optimally supported the Cellular Sales network. Trained the newly formed support team to configure and troubleshoot the Fortinet firewalls. Lead an 8 man team to systematically replace 380+ firewalls in 10 days. Team member/team lead; Hand crafted the creation of the network team, including myself, another Engineer, an Analyst, and 2 Admins. Guided the senior IT team in the formation of an Operations Support team and its initial charter - customer advocacy. Lead the team’s critical decision to prioritize a trouble ticket system, SNMP monitoring tools, Active Directory, and build a knowledge base. Established 5-year road map for the evolution of IT Infrastructure, Cisco ISE, National, VoIP, offsite Backup, Azure, AWS, DR, and a 2nd DC.
