MFA FINAL THESIS PROJECT

Curlspective is a native iphone application. It allows the user an

opportunity to learn and improve how they feel about natural hair.

The overall idea idea is to create personal profiles that allows the user

to keep a daily journal about how they emotionally feel about their

natural hair and connect with others who share in the everyday joys

and pains of maintaining and embracing natural curly hair.

Along with the personal updates, the application provides tips,

interaction with other same hair types. The Curly Challenge feature

allows the user to have fun with learning tips and basic maintenance

on a daily basis. Another feature is called Hair Moods which allows the

user to rate how they are feeling about their hair on a daily basis.

Embrace messy hair and learn to love the natural hair because its apart

of a woman’s identy.

This is the screen that allows the user to sign in or sign up into the iphone application.

SPECIAL FEATURES SCREEN PAGES

The first screen (Hair Moods) allows the user to log how they are feeling about their natural hair that day by selecting the emoji. By doing this on a daily basis the user can see how they feel about their hair over time. The second screen (Challenge) is a list of topics to help the user on their natural hair journey and help them get more in touch with how to maintain it or get tips from other users.

SECONDARY SCREEN PAGE VIEWS

These are views for the remaining features the application has to offer. The Main Feed allows the user to interact and post how they feel with other users. The middle screen is a display of the post page. And lastly an Profile page example view. It displays the users personal information allow with her natural hair progress.

The assignment was to take an already exsisting hotel located in San Franscisco and redesign the website to attract new guests. Using the artwork that is displayed throughout the hotel, I wanted to give the site a modern and welcoming feel.

TYPE DESIGN BOOK COVER PROJECT

This project was to design a book cover (front and back) for a mock coffee table design book.

The extraordinary flowering of graphic design in our time, as a potent means for communication and a major component of our visual culture, increases the need for designers, clients, and students to comprehend its nature. In this lively and lavishly illustrated book, the author reveals the very essence of graphic design. The elements that combine to form a design— sings, symbols, words, pictures, and supporting forms—are analyzed and explained. Graphic design’s ability to function as language, and the innovative ways that designers combine words and pictures, are discussed.

This book will provide insight and inspiration for everyone who is interested or involved in graphic communications. The reader will find inspiration, hundreds of exciting examples by many of America’s outstanding graphic designers, and keen insights in Type and Image.
