Dear Judges:

Hello, my name is Daniel WrayI am a Senior here at Creekview High School. After high

school, I plan on attending Chattahoochee Technical College in Woodstock to pursue a

degree in television production. Following, getting my associates at Chattahoochee I will

transfer to Georgia State University to finish of my Bachelor’s degree. I truly have a

passion for video production; this passion has been there since I was in eighth grade and I

was making videos of screen recordings on my laptop.

My product is a short film that consists of Special effects. This video doesn’t truly follow

any story because it is just a sequence of scenes where I could implement special effects

in such as muzzle flashes and blood splatter. I learned quite a lot from my research paper,

but, nothing I learned truly altered the way I would have done my project. As I have said

previously, video editing is not completely new to me but the realm of special effects is.

As a result, the production of this video was no easy task for a variety of reasons. First a

foremost I had to do a good bit of planning to get a suitable date that fit everyone’s

schedule. But, the absolute most difficult problem I had to deal with was corrupted data. I

had three occasions where the project files I was working on completely erased

themselves as well as the video footage being cut of after a certain point. After changing

my tactic slightly I was abled to complete my video.

The career I was focusing on during this entire process was that of a Special Effects

Animator. During my research I discovered the steps that animators have to take to

produce adequate effects. I learned that there is a mixture of ways that effects are

produced. Some animators make effects completely from scratch whereas others will

physically produce the effect and edit it to fit the video. Upon completing my project I

realized that I never want to go into the special effects field. I truthfully did not enjoy the

experiences I had to go through.

I like the idea of having the senior project simply because it gives students a chance to

experiment on what they would like to do for their career. I believe it is better to

experience these things now so that students don’t go into college thinking they are going

to love what they are learning and end up wasting money. Now I would like to thank you

all for coming to listen to me present my presentation it is greatly appreciated.
