Schooling 1913-1919 Various schools in Sydney and Adelaide. 1921 Attended Wesley in Melbourne at age 16. 1927 Started Law at Queens College at the University of Melbourne.
Electorate 1935 Stood for Federal House of Representitives at a by-election in the seat of Fawkner. Youngest ever MP at age 27. 1939 MinisterinchargeofScientificandIndustrialResearchResearch. 1940 Elevated to Cabinet as Minister for Labour and National Service. 1949 Transferred to seat of Higgings after the redribution saw his majority in Fawkner disapear.Itwascreatedasasafeliberalseat,hewoneasily. 1949-1958 Minister for Labour and National Service. 1949-1956 MinisterforImmigration1949-1956. 1958-1966 Appointed Treasurer following the retirement of Arthur Fadden. 1966-1967 Prime Minister following retirement of Robert Menzies.

USS Harold E Holt In 1968, the newly commissioned United States Navy Knox class destroyer escort was named in Holts honour. She was launched by Holt’s widow Dame Zara at the Todd Ship yardsinLosAngeleson3May1969,andwasthefirstAmericanwarshiptobearthe name of a foreign leader.

Famoulsy Peter Costello who served as 11 and a half years as treasurer held the seat until he retired in 2009.
