Jones was born in Wake County, N. C. He was licensed to preach 1880 and ordained in 1884 at Apex, N. C. He preached at the First Baptist Church from 1890-1906, and during that time he preached at Calvary Sunday afternoons. Jones died December 7, 1906, in South Carolina.

Note: The History Committee was unable to secure any informa­ tion on the following pastors: Reverend Reid, Reverend Loflin, and Reverend Smith. They served around 1914-15.

Reverend Daniel B. Rickard was born in Lexington, North Carolina. He was educated at Wake Forest College and was licensed to preach 1896 at a Lexington Baptist Church. Some time after that year, he preached at Calvary.

The next pastor at Calvary was Reverend J. M. McKenzie. He was born in Scotland May 20, 1873, and died in York County, Rockhill, S. C., July 1920. He was married to Arpie Eudora Davis in September 1891, and they had six children. He served as a Baptist pastor for eighteen years. Two years before his death, he enlisted in YMCA work. He served his country as train master for the YMCA in the transportation of troops. He pastored at Calvary in 1911, 1912, and L917.

Reverend John Adderson Summey was called to serve as pastor at Calvary after McKenzie left. He was born in Randolph County June 20, 1854. He was married to Martha Jane Copple November 13, 1873. They had seven children. He was ordained at Liberty Baptist Church October 13, 1886. He pastored a number of churches in the Eastern and Piedmont sections of N.· C. He died May 3, 1944, and was the first pastor of our church to be buried in the church cemetery.

Reverend Floyd Frye was called to pastor at Calvary after Summey . Frye was born in Davie County April 27, 1885. He and his first wife, Emma L., had eight children. She died in childbirth October 18, 1921. She and the infant child were buried together in our cemetery. Later Frye married a lady by the name of Lonnie. He lived in Mocksville, N. C., while he preached at Calvary. Later he moved to our community and pastored here for several more years. The membership at Calvary grew steadily during this time. For several years singing schools were conducted a week at a time. A musician from High Point, N. C., Mr. · Rollings, came and directed those singing schools. After Frye resigned from Calvary, he began holding tent services in numerous locations in Rowan County. In our community, he held revivals at the end of
