Verse 24 –
The Hebrew word for “Weeks” is “Shawbua” – Meaning - “a week of years”.
The word is also associated with the term “Heptad” – Which is a period of 7 years - much like our word “Decade”
Therefore – Seventy Sevens – is in reference to – Seventy – Seven year periods – or –
A period of 490 years 70 x 7 equaling 490 years
The Focus of God’s Attention is upon Three Things –
(1) The Jewish People – (2) The Holy City – which is in reference to Jerusalem(3) The coming of the Messiah
Verse 25 –
#1. He gives us a (Starting Point) from which to Begin Counting.
#2. Secondly - He tells us – What will happen at the Beginning of the Starting point – and –
#3. Thirdly – what will happen at the End.
Events that will happen in the Beginning –
A Commandment will come – That will call for the Rebuilding of the City of Jerusalem.
Consider the condition Jerusalem at the time Daniel is writing – 3 Sieges by Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon – had occurred – 606 BC, 598 BC, 587 BC–
In the last siege – The Temple was destroyed - the City of Jerusalem was leveled.
And yet – the promise is – that a Commandment would come – To Restore - and Rebuild - the City of Jerusalem –
History Records –
March 14, 445 BC – A commandment was given by King Artaxerxes Longimanus of Persia – Recorded in – (Nehemiah 2:1&8) – to rebuild the City of Jerusalem - at which time – Nehemiah returned to the City of Jerusalem to work on the Wall of the City – which he worked on in “Troublous Times” –
Consider the Time Mentioned –
Seven plus Threescore (which is 60) plus Two – Which equals = 69 Weeks – Which is equal to - 483 Years – When we consider that (69 x 7 = 483 years)

Question #1 - How long is 1 year?
Answer - Most all of the ancient calendars at that time – The Chinese, Mayan, Egyptian, Hebrew, and the Babylonian –
Were all based on a 360 day year.
Question #2 - How long is 483 years?
Answer - Using the Biblical Calendar of 360 days in 1 year. 483 years x 360 days = 173,880 days.
Question #3 - If we begin counting from March 14, 445 BC – Where does it take us? – What’s the Date?
Answer - Beginning from (March 14, 445 BC) – Counting 173,880 days – brings us to – (April 6, 32 AD) –
