Adjudicators

Betty Dargie Betty is third generation show business. Her grandfather was the renound Horrie Dargie, her grandmother was Tivoli Theatre star dancer Betty Gleu and her mother and Aunt made up Australia's best-known sister act 'The Dargie Sisters'. Betty is a seasoned performer in her own right. She has worked in the entertainment industry for over 17 years as a professional Singer, Actor, Dancer, Model, Choreographer and Producer. She has travelled the world performing and is also a MO Award winner. Betty is now the co-Director of Dargie Entertainment (along with her partner Ben Murray), one of Sydney’s busiest elite live entertainment production and talent management companies. Dargie Entertainment employs a large group of dancers, models, singers, circus performers and specialty acts for the Australian and International entertainment market.

Jason Winters From a very early age Jason Winters has always been inspired by the soundtrack of life, pushing and pulling his mind and body in so many directions. Studying classical piano and percussion was the opening of many doors and the beginning of an insatiable appetite to explore the boundless world music had to offer. Soon came the overwhelming need to express this musical arena through the physical form. Having trained in south/central Florida in theatre as well as Classical Ballet, Jazz, Hip-Hop, and Modern.

Jason began to work professionally in every genre and medium available, gaining the opportunity to perform, assist, and eventually choreograph with incredibly influential people/companies. Some include Mia Michaels, Marc Dendy, Radio City Music Hall Productions, The Walt Disney World Co., and Cirque Du Soleil. He also worked on numerous Superbowl halftime shows with artists such as Madonna, Eminem, Elton John, NSYNC, Aerosmith, Mary J. Blige, Moby and The Blue Man Group.

Along with numerous commissions of award winning contemporary works across Australia and years of teaching master classes in North America, Jason is now based in Sydney, Australia, holding faculty positions at Sydney Dance Company, Ettingshausens and The Village PA to name a few. Jason is the founder/creator of The Jason Winters Contemporary TechniqueTM offered exclusively through Commonwealth Society of Teachers Dancing, the first, and most comprehensive, original syllabus of Contemporary training distributed worldwide.

Beginning in 2015, Mr. Winters founded “The Movement – Youth Contemporary Dance Program”, a one on one mentoring and training intensive for aspiring dancers between the ages of 13-18. This holistic approach to conditioning the body, mind, and spirit which is set to lead the way for future generations of highly intelligent, motivated, confident, and connected artists.


Adjudicators

Lydia King McNamara Lydia McNamara (formerly Lydia King) has been dancing since the age of 3 years. She has trained in Jazz, Tap, Classical Ballet, Acrobatics, Cheerleading, Lyrical, Contemporary, Theatrical, Singing & Zumba. Lydia has studied with ATOD, BDA, BBO, GWT & AASCF. Lydia has travelled extensively teaching and performing from theatre and stage to television and movies, from The Music Man & Pirates of Penzance to playing Alice in Seven Brides for Seven Brothers to Home and Away. Working in Pantomimes and growing up at Keane Kids Studio (Gala Productions), Lydia performed in Chanel 7 telethons and The Australian Music Awards. She credits her foundations to Helen and Jimmy Hayes for H & C Hayes studios. Lydia had a successful studio in Sydney and after 10 years married and moved where she now has the largest Performing Arts Studio in the Riverina covering all styles of dance and genres. She celebrates students successfully finishing fulltime courses at ED5, VCA, NZ Ballet School, students performing now with Sydney Dance Company (Thomas Bradley), in Universal Studios Tokyo and Carnival Cruise Lines to name a few. Lydia is fortunate enough to adjudicate all over Australia and continues to further her dance studies through furthering her qualifications, taking additional classes, workshops and studies to provide up to date technique and choreography. With 36 years of dance and 22 years of teaching experience, it’s easy to see why she has a great rapport with her students and gets the best out of them. Now with her own little one starting the dance family, Lydia has even a greater appreciation and love for parents, students and teachers alike. Lydia also credits her great success and happiness to her family.

Simone Stephens Simone Conlan was fortunate to receive her ballet training at the Ecolé Classique Ballet Studios, which was then under the directorship of Prudence Bowen, one of the finest ballet schools in Australia. From this training her desire to teach ballet grew and led her to accept a position at Ecolé. As the head of the Junior School at Ecolé Classique for nine years she oversaw the curriculum of the Junior School. During her 26 years teaching classical ballet Simone has had the opportunity to work with many well-known dancers and choreographers. Teaching ballet has allowed her to travel extensively throughout the world coaching young dancers in the fine art of classical ballet.

Simone founded The Conlan College in 1997 and groomed it to be quite different to other full time ballet schools in that its annual intake was a maximum of 15 elite students per year; this then enabled the faculty to give individual care and instructions to students. It is with much pleasure that we welcome Simone to The Ultimate Dance Challenge.
