In this series, Sumeet Nagdev will teach you some of these basic moves from a genre of hip-hop called b-boying. Try these moves on the song ‘Begging’ from the movie ‘Step Up 3D’ or on the title track of the film ‘Aaloo Chaat’.

Step 1: Stand in first position with relaxed hands before you start. Remember to keep your body light.

Step 2: Release the right foot out diagonally in front, tapping the heel on the floor and releasing your hands up.

Step 3: Pump your body weight upwards and come back to first position with arms crossed in front.

Step 4: Repeat step 1 on the other side with the left foot moving out diagonally.

Step 5: Repeat step 2 and keep your body weight up.

Step 6: Drop your weight diagonally backwards slightly to your left and keep the left hand on the floor. Make a fist in front of you with your right hand.

Step 7: Open your feet into second position as shown and open the right hand up with jazz hands. Use the left hand and your heels to balance your body.

Step 8: Do the same position as Step 5 and prepare to cartwheel to your left.

Step 9: Cart wheel—place the right hand beyond the left hand and transfer your weight gradually. Lift off the right foot followed by the left and land very softly. Be extremely careful when trying this and ask an adult to help you out.

Step 10: Finish nicely with your hands by the side as shown.
