Executive Summary –

Neighbourhood

Dana MS is located in the San Pedro community of the City of Los Angeles on an 11.7-acre site bounded by 14th

Street (north), Cabrillo Avenue (east) and 17th Street (south). San Pedro High School is immediately adjacent on the west. The middle school opened in 1926.

Instruction

Dana MS serves 6th through 8th grades.

Summary of Facilities

The campus sits on a hillside rising from east to west that is graded into three levels. On the lowest level, which occupies almost half of the site are the historic three-story Administrative and Auditorium building, and the North Gym. This lowest level also includes the south playground, the north playground that is also used for parking, the cafeteria with indoor dining, two lunch shelters, and other support facilities. The middle level includes portable classroom buildings, the Boy’s (South) Gym, and a small play area. The highest level is comprised of portable buildings with parking on the north and south ends. The gem of the campus is the auditorium, which is replete with maritime details.
