Dan Brown was born June 22, 1964 in New Hampshire (USA) in the family of a professor of mathematics and musician Richard Brown Constance Brown.

Brown graduated from Phillips Exeter Academy , where his father taught mathematics , and wrote textbooks and manuals , until his retirement in 1982. Brown's mother and father were musicians , his mother also served as organist at the church. Family belonged to the Episcopal Church USA . After graduation, Brown entered Amherst College , where he was an active member of the fraternity Psi Upsilon.
