Brief Description of Current Duties with Appointment Percentages Current Position: Farm Management Specialist Appointment: 100% Extension

My primary responsibilities as a state Extension specialist are to develop educational materials and programs in farm management and to facilitate economic education in general. I provide support as needed to area specialists and Extension Educators - Agriculture. Because farm management encompasses a wide variety of production, financial and decision-making practices, my educational efforts over the years have responded to needs in a broad array of topics. My current program emphasizes integrated resource management, including the use of computers to facilitate record-keeping and support decision-making at the farm level.

Educational methods include publications, “hands on” computer workshops, displays at industry meetings, and presentations at regional and state meetings as well as some local meetings. Audiences for workshops and materials developed include producers, agricultural lenders and other agricultural industry personnel, and Extension staff, both in-state and out-of-state. To provide feedback and document results of educational programs, written evaluations are routinely conducted and summarized. More grant proposals are being written to solicit funds to support interdisciplinary efforts.
