Mission Statement
The mission of the Dallas Nursing Institute’s library is to collect, organize, and provide access to information sources that support the institute’s curriculum and to encourage the intellectual, cultural, and spiritual growth of the DNI community.
Library Hours
Monday – Thursday 9 a.m. – 9 p.m.
Friday – Saturday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Closed Sunday
Library Conduct Please sign in when you come to the
library. As a courtesy to others, please leave
the library if you take a call on your cell phone.
Be respectful of others who are studying by using quiet voices, especially at the copier.
Leave all food and drinks outside the library.

Library Computers There are 18 networked computers for use
in the library. Databases, the Internet, and other software are available on the computers.
In order to gain access to a computer, you must trade in your student ID badge for a computer pass at the library front desk. The computer pass will let you know which computer to go to and the password. Your ID will be returned to you once the computer pass is returned to the library staff.
Printing In order to print you must obtain a computer
pass. You must trade your student ID to get a computer pass at the library desk. Your student ID will be returned to you once the computer pass has been returned to the library staff.
Students are allotted ten sheets of paper a day from the library. You may bring your own paper if your require more.
Follow the directions posted at the printer to print your materials.

Checking Items Out You can check up to 5 books that may
be checked out for 2 weeks. You can check up to 3 DVDs and other
media items that may be checked out for 1 week.
Books with “Reference” stickers may be used within the library but may not be checked out.
Journals, periodicals, and magazines may be used only within the library and may not be checked out.
Student ID or driver's
license required for checkout.
LIBRARY ITEMSRenewing Items Returning Items
Borrowed items must be returned to the library information desk by the due date to avoid a late fee. Late fees for books are $ .50 per day and DVDs are $1 per day excluding Sundays and holidays.
Borrowed items may be renewed one time in person or by calling the library at 214-613-3765 no later than the item’s due date in order to avoid a late fee.
Lost or Damaged Items Be careful not to lose books or
movies! You may borrow them for free, but if an item is damaged or lost, you will be expected to pay to replace the item. Please make arrangements with the librarian if this happens.
You must satisfy all financial obligations before you cangraduate, including with the library.
Library Copier
There is a copier for student use located in library Room #4. Copies are $ .05 each. Please do not use pennies – they jam the machine!
Please follow DNI’s copyright policy
as outlined on the next slide and also on the top cover of the copier.
Copyright Policy All employees and students of the Dallas Nursing
Institute must comply with the provisions of the Copyright Act of 1976 relating to the unauthorized use, reproduction, distribution, perform- ance, or display of any copyrighted materials. This includes but is not limited to printed materials, videos, DVDs, CDs, computer data programs, and digital materials.
Penalties for infringement of the copyright law can include fines up to $150,000 for each separate act of willful infringement.
Remember that with regard to copyright, YOU have the burden of responsibility and carry the risk of legal liability. When you are in doubt, do not copy without permission. Contact the librarian for further information.
Due to copyright laws, the library staff cannot make the copies for you. You may use the student copier at your own risk.

JUST TYPE THE APPROPRIATE WORDS IN THE SEARCH BOX AT THE TOP OF THE SCREEN.
