In Loving Memory
Dale D. Velenchenko
Dale Dwight Velenchenko was born August 19, 1944 on the family farm
near Fayette, North Dakota the son of Finice and Mary Velenchenko. The
family moved to a farm near Manning when he was five years old. He went
to country school for eight years and then graduated from Killdeer High
School. After graduation he joined the United States Navy and spent the
majority of his time stationed in Norfolk Virginia. After four years of ser-
vice to his country he returned to Dickinson.
He worked for Diamond Equipment and transferred with them to Willis-
ton in 1968. He was united in marriage to Marcia Wagner at Lark, North
Dakota in April 1968 and had two children, Skye and Teeayr. He began
working at Williams Electric as an apprentice line man and retired 32 years
later as the Line Foreman.
Dale enjoyed fishing, hunting, gambling, fishing, playing cards, dominos
and fishing. Oh and he especially loved fishing. He often said he felt closest
to God when he was out in nature and on the water. He loved to fish with
friends and family and was always willing to take others along. Dale was
much more interested in catching the fish than eating them and so they
threw one heck of a fish fry every year. He loved celebrating birthdays with
friends in his beloved back yard and serving his “catch of the day” to rave
reviews.
After he retired in 2005 he spent his time doing the things that meant
the most to him. He and Marcia traveled the world together with family
and friends. They went by car, plane, train and ship and enjoyed learning
about different cultures, sights and tasting the food. He was an avid reader
and especially loved Presidential history and collecting coins.
Dale was a passionate man when it came to things in life that he really
loved. He loved being married to his best friend and was always there for
his kids. He was active in all areas of their lives and activities. He volun-
teered his time to support organizations that helped all kids develop char-
acter and confidence such as 4-H, Boy Scouts and Rainbow. He continued
to volunteer for Williams County 4-H up until his death and was recognized
as a Friend of the 4H for his efforts. Also he received the Williston Herald
Volunteer of the Month award. He was generous with those he loved and
was always willing to offer a helping hand.
After a long illness Dale went to join his Lord. Dale is survived by his
wife of 45 years, Marcia of Williston ND; his son, Skye of Fargo ND; his
daughter, Teeayr (Danny) of Billings MT; three brothers, Delbert of Belling-
ham WA, Dennis of Denver CO, and Douglas (Judy) of Longview WA; and
one sister, Darlene Jose (Ralph) of Fargo, ND; and many nieces and neph-
ews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother-in-law, Donald
Stegner; and sister-in- law, Linda Velenchenko.
