    Note: Read assembly directions before cutting patches. Borders are cut to exact length required plus ¼” seam allowance. WOF designates the width of fabric from selvedge to selvedge (approximately 42” wide).

    Fabric A Cut (1) 9 ½” x 27 ½” WOF strip. Cut (4) 5 ½” x WOF strips. Sew the strips together, end to end with diagonal seams, and cut (2) 5 ½” x 70 ½” strips. Cut (4) 5 ½” x WOF strips. Sew the strips together, end to end with diagonal seams, and cut (2) 5 ½” x 62 ½” strips.

    Fabric B Cut (1) 5 ⅜” x WOF strip. Sub-cut the strip into (2) 5 ⅜” squares. Cut (2) 5” x WOF strips. Sub-cut the strips into (16) 5” squares.

    Fabric C Cut (2) 2 ½” x 36 ½” WOF strips. Cut (2) 2 ½” x 22 ½” WOF strips. Cut (7) 3 ½” x WOF strips. Sub-cut the strips into (80) 3 ½” squares. Cut (8) 2 ½” x WOF strips for the binding.

    Fabric D Cut (2) 1 ½” x 40 ½” WOF strips. Cut (2) 1 ½” x 24 ½” WOF strips. Cut (4) 2 ½” x WOF strips. Sew the strips together, end to end with diagonal seams, and cut (2) 2 ½” x 66 ½” strips. Cut (3) 2 ½” x WOF strips. Sew the strips together, end to end with diagonal seams, and cut (2) 2 ½” x 52 ½” strips.

    Fabric E Cut (4) 6 ½” x WOF strips. Sub-cut the strips into (40) 3 ½” x 6 ½” strips.

    Fabric F Cut (2) 6 ½” x WOF strips. Sub-cut the strips into (10) 6 ½” squares. Fabric G Cut (2) 6 ½” x WOF strips. Sub-cut the strips into (10) 6 ½” squares.

    Fabric H Cut (8) 3 ½” x WOF strips. Sub-cut the strips into (16) 3 ½” x 12 ½” strips, (4) 3 ½” x 9 ½” strips and (4) 3 ½” squares. Cut (1) 5 ⅜” x WOF strip. Sub-cut the strip into (2) 5 ⅜” squares. Cut (1) 9 ½” x WOF strip. Sub-cut the strip into (8) 5” x 9 ½” strips.

    Backing Cut (2) 88” x WOF strips. Sew the strips together and trim to make (1) 70” x 88” backing.

    Block Assembly: Place (1) 3 ½” Fabric C square on the left side of (1) 3 ½” x 6 ½” Fabric E strip, right sides together (Diagram 1). Sew across the diagonal of the square from the upper right corner to the lower left corner (Diagram 1). Flip open the triangle formed and press (Diagram 2). Trim away the excess fabric from behind the triangle, leaving a ¼” seam allowance.

    Place another 3 ½” Fabric C square on the right side of the 3 ½” x 6 ½” Fabric E strip, right sides together (Diagram 3). Sew across the diagonal of the square from the upper left corner to the lower right corner (Diagram 3). Flip open the triangle formed and press (Diagram 4). Trim away the excess fabric from behind the triangle, leaving a ¼” seam allowance to make (1) CEC unit.

    Repeat Steps 1-2 to make (40) CEC units total.

    Repeat Steps 1-2 using (8) 5” x 9 ½” Fabric H strips and (16) 5” Fabric B squares to make (8) BHB units (Diagram 5).

    Place (1) 5 ⅜” Fabric B square on top of (1) 5 ⅜” Fabric H square, right sides together. Draw a line across the diagonal of the top square (Diagram 6). Sew ¼” away from each side of the drawn diagonal line (Diagram 6). Cut the two squares apart on the drawn diagonal line (Diagram 7) to make (2) BH units (Diagram 8). Trim the BH units to measure 5” square. Repeat to make (4) BH units total.

    Sew (3) BHB units together, end to end, to make (1) strip (Diagram 9). Repeat to make a second strip. Pay attention to the orientation of the units. Sew (1) strip to each side of the 9 ½” x 27 ½” Fabric A strip.

    Sew (1) BH unit to each end of (1) BHB unit. Repeat to make a second strip. Sew the strips to the top and to the bottom of the Fabric A strip to make the center block (Diagram 10).

    Sew (1) 2 ½” x 36 ½” Fabric C strip to each side of the center block. Sew (1) 2 ½” x 22 ½” Fabric C strip to the top and to the bottom of the center block.

    Sew (1) 1 ½” x 40 ½” Fabric D strip to each side of the center block. Sew (1) 1 ½” x 24 ½” Fabric D strip to the top and to the bottom of the center block.

    Sew (1) 3 ½” x 9 ½” Fabric H strip, (1) 3 ½” x 12 ½” Fabric H strip, (1) 6 ½” Fabric G square, (2) CEC units and (1) 3 ½” Fabric H square together to make (1) Corner Block (Diagram 11). Repeat to make (4) Corner Blocks total.

    Finishing the QuiltLayer and quilt as desired.

    Sew the (8) 2 ½” x WOF Fabric C strips together, end to end with 45-degree seams, to make the binding. Fold this long strip in half lengthwise with wrong sides together and press.

    Bind as desired.
