an honest-to-goodness design affair

Thanksgiving should take pride as the one distinctly American addition to the Major Holiday Canon. Sure, there are other respectably American holidays like Presidents Day or Columbus Day, but if I may be redundant, those are dedi-cated to the remembrance of mere mortals. Thanksgiving is dedicated to an entire set of emotions. It’s kind of a big deal. Besides, you actually get enough time off to do something worthwhile. On Thanksgiving, you have proper time to invest in appropriately major things, like travel, family, post-binge eating slothfulness, and football.
While much thought and planning is given to the appreciation and indulgence of our favorite traditions, the Thanksgiving aesthetic can be tragically over-looked, or even more tragically, begrudgingly acknowledged with the obliga-tory warted gourd center piece. Because time-honored Thanksgiving tradition requires a healthy dose of family politics, I’ve assembled a few modest pieces of inspiration to help you prove that you are indeed a better host than your sister-in-law was last year. Give them something new to talk about.

1. Butchers Block by Shift Build - When buying the turkey simply doesn’t cut it, there are a select few ways to ramp up the excite-ment around the your brand of bird. One is to make it a Turducken—the matryosh-ka of indulgent delicacies. Part turkey, part duck, part chicken, all Cajun. The oth-er way would be to butcher your own, thereby ensuring freshness, on this butcher block by Shift Build.
2. Mammoth Clip-Point Hunter by Bill Post - Fol-lowing ergonomic and ar-tistic curves rather than traditional lines, Post hand fashions each individual blade. I keep daydream-ing about a foot-long carv-ing knife with an elegant Damascus steel blade and one of his trademark handle shapes.
3. Mandala Dining Table by Rotsen Furniture - This glass-topped dining table caught my eye with its unique mosaic of various wood grains and shapes.
