Dear Masters, Competitors and Officials,
Greetings from Miami, Florida! It is with great pleasure that we invite you and the members of your
school/organization to join in the celebration of our 3rd Annual Florida Gold Coast AAU Miami Taekwondo
Challenge. This year’s event will be held at the St. Thomas University Fernandez Family Center on Saturday,
December 5, 2009.
This will be a SINGLE ELIMINATION Olympic Sparring only event for all ages and all ranks. Ages 5-9 will use
the DAEDO Electronic Scoring System (Non-Electronic Hogus). Ages 10-11 will use the DAEDO True Score
Electronic Hogus. All ranks ages 12 may choose to compete using the DAEDO Electronic Hogu, the LaJust
Electronic Hogu, or both for an additional $10. Additionally, for those 8-9 year olds who want to experience
using the electronic hogus, we will offer the option of entering a separate bracket for an additional $10.
We are working very hard to make this a safe and wonderful event in the uprising of future athletes. You’re
your students the opportunity to acquire valuable experience using both the DAEDO and LaJust Electronic
Body Protectors- for this is the wave of the future in Tae Kwon Do.

Registration Athletes and coaches participating from other schools must send their registration by December 2, 2009. All coaches and athletes’ application must be completely filled out and accompanied by a money order or
certified check payable to: Young Tae Kwon Do, 2626 NE 188 Street, Aventura, FL 33180.
THERE WILL BE A $20 LATE FEE FOR THOSE WHO REGISTER AFTER DECEMBER 2ND.

Safety Equipment & Uniform All competitors must have a clean uniform and mandatory safety equipment as defined in the 2010 AAU rule book. Headgear, mouth piece, groin protector (males), shin guard and forearm guards are required by all. Ages 5-9 will be required to provide their own chest & in-step protectors. For those using the Daedo system, the electronic body protectors (hogus) will be provided, but athletes will be required to provide their own Daedo electronic footies. Footies can be purchased at the venue or purchased prior to the event at http://daedofl.com, De Jesus TKD or Young TKD. For ages 12 & up competing with the LaJust system, the electronic body protectors (hogus) AND the electronic socks will be provided by Master De Jesus, Competitors without all the proper equipment will not be allowed to compete.
Sparring Rules Light head contact ages 5 – 11 – All Belts. Jr. Safety rules Light head contact ages 12 to 13 - Beginners. Jr. Safety rules Light Head contact allowed ages 12 to 13 – Intermediate – Advanced. Jr. safety rules Light Head contact allowed ages 14 – 17 Color Belts. Jr. Safety rules Head contact allowed ages 14-17 Blackbelt and 18 & Over All Belts, Adult Rules.

Athletes (Junior athletes should be prepared to present proof of age)
This event is sanctioned by the Amateur Athletic Union of the U.S., Inc.
All participants must have a current AAU membership.
AAU membership may not be included as part of the entry fee to the event.
AAU membership must be obtained before the competition. Participants are encouraged to visit the AAU web site www.aausports.org to obtain their membership or www.aautaekwondo.org.
Coach Pass All Coaches must be a current 2010 AAU member and must have also completed the 2010 Online Coaches Course. Take your Coaches Certification Course Online at www.aautaekwondo.org All coaches must wear the AAU blue coach’s shirt and any color warm up pants. You can purchase the AAU coach’s shirt at www.macho.com All coaches must provide one photo 2x2 along with the registration form and $10.00. Coach pass is mandatory, you will not be allowed to coach without it. Referees All participating referees will be assigned by Master DeJesus. If you are a certified Referee/Official and wish to participate as a Referee/Official please contact us at (305)467-9736. All Referees/Officials must fill out the Referee pass form. All Referees/Officials must wear proper AAU attire as defined in the 2010 rule book.

Tournament Directors Master Ricky Do & Master Gerardo DeJesus reserve the right to combine or add any division. IMPORTANT READ CAREFULLY!!!! This release gives up any legal rights that you, your survivors, or representative may have to obtain a legal action, claim or litigation by reason or injury or death resulting from participation in the tournament.
**RELEASE FORM** I understand that participating in the sport of Taekwondo involves an element of danger, even when, sparring/bouts are supervised and protective gears are used. Despite this danger, I desire to participate at the 2009 AAU Miami Taekwondo Challenge, knowingly voluntarily assume all risks involving participation in the tournament, even those risks inflicted by negligence. I relinquish all rights to claim or redeem damages for personal injury and/or death in contingent to if caused solely by the negligence of individual(s) or entities. I do hereby, for myself, my heirs, executors and administration waive, release and forever discharge any and all rights and claims for damages which may occur to me, against the Organizers, City of Miami, AAU, Young Taekwondo Martial Arts Center, DeJesus Taekwondo School, St. Thomas University FFWC, Ricky Do, Gerardo DeJesus, Daedo and all the members of the tournament and against any competitor, for any and all traveling to, participating in, and returning from this event. This release sanctions not only binding upon me, but also, upon my survivors and representatives and all tournament promoters, sponsors, officials, Masters, athletes, contestants and other participants.
