INTRODUCTION

ENERINVEST aims to become the reference national funding-related platform in Spain for Sustainable Energy Projects (SEPs) while widely contributing to increase knowledge and deliver innovative approaches, strategies, models and tools regarding financial mechanisms for energy projects.

The identification and involvement of key players in technical, legal, financial management aspects, and policy decision making of SEPs, is one of the objectives of the project. In this sense, to set up a favorable environment in which contacts can be made among all parties involved in energy projects, a fluid communication between stakeholders is essential.

The activities planned in the project, the tools designed and the e-Platform developed make possible to bring together all these different stakeholders. For this reason, a specific Communication and Dissemination strategy has been designed and may be applicable throughout the project period. It contains and plans the methodology and the channels used for transmitting the information and knowledge acquired.

After 18 months of work and monitoring, it is of great interest to carry out a full evaluation of the dissemination and communication practices and the activities developed. An analysis of the impacts achieved and a correct diagnosis will give us a list of conclusions and a proposal of corrections and improvements aimed at achieving the objectives of ENERINVEST.

THE SCOPE AND OBJECTIVES OF THE 1ST DISSEMINATION REPORT

This document contains a brief summary and description of the dissemination activities carried out during the first 18 months of the project and that form part of a complete strategy. The Communication and Dissemination Plan was expressly designed for this project and explains all these actions in detail.

This first Report includes the most important proofs of dissemination. It gathers and shows the results of a monitoring work made during this first period by the work package (WP) leader, together with and impact evaluation of the activities performed by all the partners.

The purpose of this document is also to make public these dissemination results, as well as to inform the European Commission Services, all project partners and their work teams.

COMMUNICATION AND DISSEMINATION PLAN

The Communication and Dissemination Plan, C&D Plan, was prepared and delivered in the fourth month of the project, in May 2016, being implemented since the beginning of the project.

The C&D Plan aims to provide to all of the partners in the consortium with a reference guide to manage and evaluate the dissemination and communication activities in order to gain visibility and increase impact among the key target groups and different stakeholders. Besides, internal communication issues are also addressed within the Plan, since an appropriate communication between the partners is key to achieve the common objectives.

The Communication and Dissemination Plan explains the difference between internal communication and the activities of external communication and dissemination. The latter are essential in the project and will be the main focus of this report.

The plan clearly defines the communication objectives and identifies the key players in the development of sustainable energy projects, classifying them into four general categories, named as target groups. The identified groups are: SEP Promoters, Financial Institutions and Bodies, Public Authorities and Policy Makers, and Other Stakeholders.

The last group consists of agents especially interested in energy projects, such as energy agencies and sectorial associations, among others, whose cooperation and participation is essential for the project objectives. This group is an important potential audience for dissemination.

The Plan establishes specific objectives of each target group and the mechanisms and tools to be applied to keep them informed and get their involvement in the platform.

A periodical revision of the C&D Plan activities is performed, taking into account the project needs and the partners support and contributions. In this sense, a formal intermediate evaluation has been made in month 18, and an updated version of the C&D Plan will be delivered, considering the results of the monitoring and evaluation process gathered in this report.

The Updated Plan will implement the improvements, new target stakeholders and focus groups identified, and a proposal of corrective actions for the next period of the project.

IMPLEMENTATION OF THE COMMUNICATION AND DISSEMINATION STRATEGY

Communication and dissemination activities need a clear planning and definition of responsibilities. For this reason a strategy has been designed for the entire duration of the project in which it is intended to predict the tasks that are involved in making a good distribution of information, reaching all the target groups and getting their interest and involvement.

The main activities, tools and channels considered essential for implementing an optimal communication and dissemination strategy, which can reach the target groups and stakeholders identified, are shown in the graphic below.

All of the partners are deeply involved in the dissemination activities and use the different tools and channels here described. All of them have been considered in order to clearly maximize the impact of the project activities and its results.

Figure 1: Chart of Activities planned, Tools and Channels used during the project.

These instruments must be properly combined in order to generate interest and awareness in the project. Other important instruments have been implemented and can contribute to maximize the impact. Thus, the definition of a clear brand identity and logo for ENERINVEST, and the design and maintenance of the Website as the first step to get involved in the e-Platform, were key actions during these first period of the project.

The Focus Groups of ENERINVEST in the C&D Strategy

The project considers the organization of specific working teams for Strengthening & Encouraging SEPs in an effective way, in concrete six Focus Groups (FG) are working.

• Collective Events Focus Group. • Assistance Focus Group. • Discussion Forums and Webinars Focus Group. • Connecting Initiatives Focus Group. • Financial Work Focus Group • Promoters Work Focus Group

The development and activity of all groups are related to communication and dissemination activities, although in different ways. The most directly involved in these tasks are Collective Events FG and Discussion Forums and Webinars FG, both composed of the nine consortium partners.

The Collective Events FG decides the topics and the most interesting participants as well as the logistic for the preparation of the events. The topics are chosen regarding the necessities knowing through the Promoters and Financial Focus Groups. The Collective Events group was launched in February, with a total of two meetings for the organization of the first event of the project, celebrated on the 14th of June.

The Connecting Initiatives FG is led by the Project Coordinator with the support of all partners. This group identifies experts in different areas of SEPs and organizes face-to-face meetings to bring together stakeholders. The first event was celebrated the 26th of April 2017. This group also develops questioners which could be filled after events or through the ENERINTOOL. This activity gives us feedback and information regarding the issue we have to cover for each user or participant.

The internal communication tools among the partners, and also the connecting channels used with all the collaborators and agents in these working Focus Groups are essential. Channels such as e-mail, telephone or formal face-to-face meetings have been employed.

Every working session was planned and prepared using a professional software for online meetings and communication activities. This tool offers the option of managing online streaming videoconferences, at the same time they are celebrated in person.

Main milestones of the C&D Strategy

In the course of the project there are key moments in which communication efforts must be intensified, especially when there are approaching events and activities organized by ENERINVEST.

A well-designed C&D strategy must anticipate these moments and use a variety of resources to achieve the impact objectives expected, as well as to reach the groups of stakeholders that are interested in the development of SEPs.

The following Table gives a description of the use of varied tools and channels for communication and dissemination activities that were implemented when key project results are achieved or important milestones in global planning are overcome.

ACTIVITIES, TOOLS AND CHANNELS OF THE STRATEGY

Branding of ENERINVEST:

The project and its platform must have their own identity brand in order to have a clear presentation in society, making them easy to identity and be remembered.

Visual tools can help to ease a first contact with the target groups. The design and selection of a coherent collection of images and a memorable logo were the first steps of the Communication and Dissemination Strategy.

The Visual identity toolkit of ENERINVEST was subcontracted to a professional in marketing, design and image. First of all, up to six different designs of brand identity logo were proposed and presented to the members of the consortium before choosing the final one.

Figure 3: Proposals of logos for the project.

Once the final logo was chosen a set of different versions of the logo were generated, (different sizes, formats, colours, final uses, etc.) together with the guidelines for its use. The following picture shows the final logo for the project.

Figure 4: Set of Logos for ENERINVEST Project.

Página 14 de 47

ENERINVEST WP7 - D.7.6. – First Dissemination Report - EN-Final version.

The visual toolkit consists of the following materials:

• The ENERINVEST Set of Logos, with Spanish and English versions (ES/EN). • A Set of templates for Word and Power Point (ES/EN) and instructions of use. • Leaflets with general information about the project: the objective, the challenges, the

target groups addressed, its main activities and the partners involved. Leaflets are available in digital and printed copies and in Spanish and English versions.

• Roll-ups to be used in the events and presentation (EN/ES).

A Manual of use of the brand identity has been sent to all of the partners.

Several sets of images have been produced in the course of the project, either by the partners in charge of dissemination or by a professional. They covered different needs in the dissemination activities.

The following key moments or applications have needed an own image, adequate in format, quality and measures:

• The elaboration of the website. • The profile images on social networks. • Three of the four mass media campaigns and dissemination:

- The Second campaign: launch of the ENERINVEST website; - The Third campaign: Presentation of the Map of Experiences and documents of technical, legal and financial Analysis; - The Fourth campaign: Celebration of the first collective event.

The production of a specific brand image of the assessment tool "Enerintool" was made by an external professional. A sample of all these images is included in Annex 2.

In the design and dissemination of these images and materials all the mandatory requirements coming from the EU communication protocol have been included. The use of EU emblem, the information of EU funding, and the disclaimer of the EASME Agency responsibility for the content, were always taken into account.

Website and e-Platform

The project website was published on the 26th of July 2016, as planned in the schedule set by the European Commission. It is available in two domains:

www.enerinvest.es and www.enerinvest.eu .

The website is an invaluable tool for the project since it is the first source of information for many people. Therefore, it contains the right information in a clear and accessible design and structure and clearly gives an overview about ENERINVEST, its objectives, progress and results, the partnership and main contacts.

Page 15: D7.6. 1st Dissemination Report · The identification and involvement of key players in technical, legal, financial management aspects, and policy decision making of SEPs, of the objectives

Página 15 de 47

ENERINVEST WP7 - D.7.6. – First Dissemination Report - EN-Final version.

Because of the particular characteristic of the initiative of ENERINVEST as a contact interactive platform, the public website can be considered part of the e-Platform developed. The first design of the site was a temporary version online, that allowed to start the communication and dissemination activities and was integrated into the e-Platform once it has become operative.

Both, the website and the e-platform have been designed by an external firm complying with a series of technical and legal requirements, privacy and image terms, all of them defined and approved by the partners. These definitions are based on the provisions of the Project Grant Agreement (Document N0.695822), and include a note that exempts the EASME from liability for the use that may be made of the information contained therein.

The e-platform also offers a secured password-protected intranet, which is used as an internal collaborative platform by the partners. The intranet allows the management of the different resources of the e-platform, those public ones as well as the restricted documents for exclusive use of the project partners. All partners can provide contents to the platform and all reference material generated within the project will be included. A general view of the Intranet is shown in the screenshot in Figure 4.

Figure 5: Screenshot of the Intranet platform linked to EnerInvest Project.

Two versions of the website are available. A first version includes the interface, all contents, resources and documents in Spanish. A second version shows the contents and main and static resources in English, ignoring most of the news and events periodically updated. The website has also been translated to the Catalan language, and Basque and Galician translations could be performed in the second midterm of the project.

In the design of the web and the e-Platform, internal and external measures to generate traffic in the site have been considered. They were implemented for attracting more visitors to the site. The development of structured contents for intuitive navigation, the definition of optimal and critical keywords and search terms, the use of metatags and the prioritization and proactive use of keyword density, can contribute to increase the global impact and improve web positioning.

The structure of the website has eight main sections, as shown in the screenshots in Figures 5 and 6. The project's basis, the calendar, news, activities and a resources collection, giving

access to the Map of Experiences, the Enerintool, all project’s outputs or documents, and to some links to related websites. The search menu includes forums and webinars applications, contacts to the partners of the project and a FAQ section.

The website and the e-platform were launched and integrated covering three segments: Basic information, for non-registered users; General access, for registered users; and Intranet, only for partners. Besides, an internal document was produced in order to guide all the partners in the use of the intranet, and also an interactive guide was developed to guide the registered users in the use of the e-platform.

The use of Web evaluation tools is also a key input for monitoring the impact and interest of the project and its actions.

Two appropriate systems for getting useful information about the web page impact (Google analytics and Mustat tool) have been implemented and monitored. They were used in order to evaluate website traffic, measure site visits, or to obtain the origin of visitors, among other parameters.

Finally note that a massive communication campaign was carried out and launched on the 13th of September 2016. It was focused on the announcement of ENERINVEST website and the starting point of social networks activity. The scope was national and to get a greater diffusion there was a noticeable involvement of the partners of the consortium.

Workshops and Events

Part of the communication and dissemination activities were carried out by in-person events, such as workshops, peer-to-peer sessions or collective events. These activities are addressed to specific target groups depending on the topic and will be periodically organised throughout ENERINVEST duration.

In the first 18 months of the project two communication events have been held, a launching event on the 7th of April 2016, and an event targeting the ESCOs associations on the 6th of October 2016, the last one in collaboration with the EU project IN-BEE.

A specific workshop to foster the contact between promoters and investors was held on the 26th of April 2017. This peer-to-peer meeting was organized with the purpose of stimulating the communication between players as well as fostering the investment in SEPs. The stakeholders invited presented to the financial players their current SEPs, and also, the financers exposed to the promoters their financial solutions.

One of the planned national dissemination events was also held. This is the First Collective Event of the 14th of June 2017 in Barcelona. The organization of the event, the experts and discussion topics chosen were valued very positively, above 7.6 out of 10, by attendees and participants. It gathered more than 75 people from all stakeholders and profiles, coming from all over Spain.

The purpose of this first act was to exchange information, successful experiences, documentation, technical and economic data, technologies and applicable law. The target audience was all stakeholders and actors related to the design, development and implementation of sustainable energy projects, both public and private.

The format of the event was structured in a first part with seven flash expositions, fast and dynamic presentations on successful stories representative of sustainable energy projects; followed by group activities: the participants were distributed among the five round tables formed by experts, to participate in solving problems and limitations identified in the different types of projects chosen:

1. Rehabilitation of buildings

2. HVAC (heating, ventilating and air conditioning) systems - boilers, direct expansion and industrial refrigeration, solar thermal, distribution system improvement, and industrial heat production

3. Lighting and electrical equipment and installations

4. Monitoring of facilities, consumption accounting and energy management

5. Sustainable electrical production facilities. Self-consumption projects.

Finally, the ENERINVEST partners summarized the conclusions reached from each type of project, and the five moderators shared in plenary these ideas with all the attendees.

In order to obtain an objective assessment of the event, the consortium developed a satisfaction survey. It was a useful source of information delivered to all attendees at the time of accreditation.

The survey with a total of 37 questions consists of questions of closed response, to assess the degree of interest of the projects and topics covered, the level of knowledge and experience of the experts in the discussion sessions and the degree of general satisfaction. Suggestions and points to improve for future events were also requested.

A little summary of most important figures and ratios of the event would be: a total of 75 attendees, 11 provinces represented, 9 financiers, 19 public promoters or public entities, 16 ESCOs and technical companies, 10 private promoters and 21 interested people.

The following graphs show the statistics of participation according to the type of agent or role represented in energy projects or according to the province of origin of the participant.

Figure 8: Results of participation in EnerInvest First Collective Event.

A complete and specific feedback report of the event will be made as a deliverable document in the project. It includes the participation statistics, the topics discussed and exposed, the opinions expressed by the participants and the findings and results obtained in this first event and at every national event organized by the consortium.

In terms of dissemination for the first collective event, a mass communication campaign was designed in the previous months, involving all partners. The campaign was carried out during the months of May and June 2017, announcing the first event organized by ENERINVEST, as well as showing its results and the impact generated.

A document of conclusions and the collection of the speakers’ presentations are available at the RESOURCES section in the website. Also, two press releases and one article were written, the latter being published afterwards.

Some graphic material was designed as several images of event announcement, PowerPoint templates and collages of photos of the protagonists. All this material is available on the ENERINVEST website and was used in the social networks posts.

Presentations

Participation in external events related with sustainable energy or financial mechanisms is also important in order to contribute to the promotion of ENERINVEST. All partners actively work to identify and propose interesting events to attend, either to present the project initiative or to networking activities.

During this period, most of partners had participation in events and activities organised by relevant institutions, making presentations of the project, its objectives and the results achieved at every moment. Besides, the exhibitions of other European projects related to sustainable energy and financing were a moment for presenting ENERINVEST.

The partners have taken advantage of the organization of their own activities and events to make dissemination of the results of ENERINVEST. Thus EnerAgen presented the project at the XV General Assembly of the Association (22nd of April 2016, in Barcelona) and at the II Meeting of agencies and public bodies in the field of energy (31st of March 2017, in Cádiz).

ANESE made also a presentation, taking as a context the "Energy Efficiency Observatory" of the ESCOs Association, in April 2017.

In order to disseminate the main project results at EU level, Fernando García, acting as the ENERINVEST Coordinator, made a presentation at the "Energy Efficiency Finance Market Place", held on January the 18th 2017 in Brussels and organized by the European Commission's EASME Agency.

The session brought together about 80 participants, including: financial institutions interested in energy efficiency projects, sectorial associations and companies, potential promoters, local and regional public bodies, as well as organizations with experience in sustainable energy financing across the EU.

The thematic session brought together two platforms with different approaches. On the one hand, the SEFIPA project, which develops a platform for collective financing of sustainable energy in Austria; and secondly, the ENERINVEST Platform, which provides technical, legal and financial advice, establishing a connection between key players in the projects, and facilitating their development in Spain.

After a brief introduction by Björn Zapfel, Project Officer at the European Commission, Fernando exposed the main objectives and actions included in ENERINVEST, with an scheme of the progress made in the analysis of the current technical, legal and financial framework in Spain.

Several news and/or announcements of these activities have generally been highlighted and published in the calendar of the ENERINVEST website or in the NEWS Section site.

Presence in the Media and Stakeholders involvement

NEWSLETTERS

Targeting different audiences at national level requires strong campaigns at local, regional and national level including regular presence in the media aimed at boosting potential stakeholders to join the e-platform.

Four massive communication campaigns have been carried out, the last three with greater diffusion, scope and involvement of all the partners of the consortium.

• The first campaign, held in April 2016, coincided with the launching event of the ENERINVEST project. The website and social networks were not active, so the dissemination channels consisted of a distribution of a press release to specialized and generic media, carried out by all the partners.

• The second campaign, launched the 13th of September 2016, focused on the announcement of ENERINVEST website and the start of social networks activity.

• The third campaign started in April 2017 and the press kit produced can be used to disseminate the results of the Map of Experiences and the Documents published in Work Package 2, which are the Financial, Legal and Technical frameworks.

• The last campaign was carried out during the months of May and June 2017, announcing the First Collective Event organized by ENERINVEST, as well as showing its results and the impact generated.

The partners Ecoserveis and EnerAgen worked together in order to complete the design of the campaigns carried out, from planning to launching, including the monitoring and evaluation of the impact figures achieved in the dissemination.

Press releases and appropriate articles have been drafted for each milestone of the project, and also graphic material and short messages for dissemination in social networks were prepared and delivered to the members of the consortium. All these material included a brief description of the objectives of the campaign and the main target stakeholders and profiles to consider in the distribution.

As part of the C&D strategy, a regular activity on the website was maintained throughout the period. The website was used as an online channel for the publication of news, press releases, articles, activities and events related to the ENERINVEST project.

In the period up to month 18, a total number of 70 news items have been published, of which 26 news are internal and describe the progress, activities and results of ENERINVEST.

In order to reach target groups and stakeholders identified and also to meet the general objectives of ENERINVEST, a total of 44 external news and articles are available in the e-Platform, published choosing topical issues and specific topics of interest in Spain and the European Union. Information is focused on technical, financial and regulation aspects in the context of sustainable energy projects.

When displaying the online news, a template and several logos were chosen that allow a difference between the internal news, related to ENERINVEST and written by the consortium, and those that are external to the project or taken from other sources.

Additionally, there was a definition of 4 categories of news: General, Financing and Grants, Technologies and Regulation. These standards allow to organize the information in the webpage to reach different types of audiences and stakeholders, as well as guide in the reading of the published material and in the search on topics of interest. This practice also contributes to traffic generating on the platform and attracting new visitors to the website.

Furthermore, in order to achieve a good natural online positioning of the ENERINVEST website, keywords and search terms related to the contents have been included in each of the news, as well as a short description.

There are news of public dissemination and also of restricted access, some of which would be exclusive to the project partners and the officer, and others would be available to the registered users, depending on the chosen role (Financing bodies, Public promoters, Private promoters, ESCOs and Technicians, Other stakeholders).

Figure 10: Screenshot of the definition and edition of News in the Intranet of Enerinvest.

In addition to these publications made by the responsible for communication and dissemination work package (EnerAgen) with the contributions of all members of the consortium, an important number of news related to ENERINVEST have been published in at least 75 different media and online channels in the list of register that has been made so far.

As for the languages of diffusion, news of the platform were diffused and published in specialized websites, e-journals and magazines, and media in Spanish, Catalan and English.

The Annex 1 of this document shows a register of more than 125 news and articles about ENERINVEST, most of them published in external online media. An estimation of the total audience reached is also included, showing figures of the potential impact in the dissemination of the project.

Other channels and media have also been used during this period as the Radio and in-person interviews. One of the partners, Ecoserveis, improved and extended the audience with the presentation of the project's initiative in a radio program held on the 12th of June 2016. It was the radio program “Vida Verda” transmitted at RTVE (Radio 4) with an impact over 17,000 listeners.

It is important to note that Fernando García, the Coordinator of ENERINVEST, had an interview with one specialized media in the energy sector in May 2016. The document is available for download at NEWS Section in the website.

In this section the web visitor can register on the e-Platform filling out a simple form and selecting a specific role according to their involvement in sustainable energy projects. Five types of agents or roles are considered, covering all the main stakeholders and target groups in the different stages and implementation of these projects.

In order to be registered, a user would choice among the roles of Investor, Public promoter, Private promoter, ESCOs and Technical Companies and Other interested users.

The categories firstly defined as users' roles had to be modified to consider the ESCOs and to include any user who showed a general interest in various topics.

Once the activity on the e-platform started and the users' registration section was activated, the number of people and institutions that have joined the ENERINVEST platform begins to be tracked and counted. This database will allow us to evaluate approximately the scope on the different target groups and the degree of interest awakened.

ACTIVITY OF SOCIAL MEDIA

The use of Social Networks will be key for tackling wider audiences.

ENERINVEST has daily presence on the Internet due to the social media strategy implemented, using Facebook, Google+, Twitter and LinkedIn profiles. All of them show the designed identity toolkit of the project and give a short descriptions of its objectives.

Twitter and Facebook profiles were set up in July 2016, and have been updated on a regular basis. Also LinkedIn and Google + were implemented, but having a weaker activity and impact.

Regular activity is posted showing new funding models, successful experiences, events, and any relevant issue regarding the activities of the project. Content has been posted in a clear and simple way, using illustrative images, messages to engage stakeholders, questions to answer or think about an idea (in order to get feedback from them). The description of simple examples were used to make financial keywords easier to understand for non-specialists.

Every published news or event announced in the ENERINVEST web calendar includes links to the four activated social networks, offering a direct publication on social media.

Although EnerAgen and Ecoserveis are responsible for keeping activity in social networks, all partners were involved in generating traffic and they interacted with ENERINVEST social media through their own company profiles.

An in-depth analysis of clear performance indicators is crucial to evaluate the social media strategy. During the first year of activity in social networks several key performance indicators were monitored and collected in order to get an objective overview of the impact achieved. An appropriate tool such as Twitter analytics was used to this end.

The key Indicators for monitoring social media traffic during the period have been chosen according to the following criteria:

• Concerning the reach and activity: the number of followers and lists, and demographic and location and traffic data.

• With regard to the interest and engagement of users: number of active followers, likes and shares, mentions, impressions and retweets, and most successful tweets.

It should be noted that Google+ profile didn't generate traffic and had not enough activity to be monitored, so its analysis will be obviated in this report.

WEBINARS

The use of online tools together with traditional instruments allows reaching out to a wider audience and facilitates the organisation of even more specific presentations or discussions, reducing costs and time spent.

The design of the e-Platform includes an online Web conferencing software. This tool is now available and will be used in the second period of the project in order to organise Webinars of interest for ENERINVEST.

The nine consortium partners of the project participate in a specific working group identified as the Discussion Forums and Webinars Focus Group, which was created for these purposes. The core of the activity is done by ANESE as leader of the Focus Group but all the consortium members will contribute through the selection of the topics and the contact of external speakers.

In ENERINVEST energy agencies and public organisms for energy management are considered key stakeholders in the promotion of sustainable investments. For this reason, the partner EnerAgen has organized a series of online videoconferences that will tackle during 2017 different aspects on financing of sustainable energy projects. These Webinars are especially directed towards public administrations and energy agencies.

The title chosen for this online sessions was: "Let's Talk about Financing Sustainable Energy Projects". Two sessions were held in January and February with a wide attendance and interest from the agencies. The details of these activities are summarized in the following tables and a private document with conclusions was delivered to the attendees.

ENERINTOOL

One of the strengths of this project is the development of a computer-based tool that provides a preliminary financial assessment and assistance on technical issues.

The Sustainable Energy Projects (SEPs) financial assessment tool (Enerintool) was developed choosing an attractive and intuitive design for users, and with a user-friendly interface. It is one of the instruments implemented in the e-platform, free and available for registered users.

Although the initial objective was to provide a preliminary assistance on technical and financial issues to registered users, a great chance to enable communication between stakeholders through the tool was detected.

During the design process of the Enerintool, the consortium considered the need of including an improvement in the first proposal. The tool can now be focused additionally to cover some communication issues between the key target groups. So, it can be considered as an extra channel for communication and making contacts among registered users that the e-platform offers.

Therefore, a Meeting Module was developed, where different users (financial institutions, public and private promoters, technical companies, and others) are able to meet other users with complementary interests in Sustainable Energy Projects.

The tool enables mutual contact data by means of fulfilling different forms and requests and, thus, covering the gap between the financial sector and the energy sector, and easing the dialogue among relevant stakeholders.

The following figure shows the interface of the Enerintool at the Meeting Module.

PROMOTIONAL MATERIAL

Dissemination efforts are intensified especially when there are approaching events and activities organized by ENERINVEST and above all when key project results are achieved or important milestones in global planning are overcome. A review of distribution of efforts and times of greater emphasis on the C&D strategy are summarized in Table 1 of this document.

Leaflets with general information about ENERINVEST objectives, target groups and main actions have been edited in digital and printed copies of English and Spanish version. These brochures were sent to all the partners.

At the moment approximately the 40% of the initial edition of these leaflets have been distributed in the events in which the project has been presented. A special distribution of the English version was made in the European Forum1 celebrated in Brussels in January 2017.

The four events that have been organized by the ENERINVEST consortium have also been moments in which an important distribution of the printed brochures has been made. In this sense, the Collective Event in Barcelona, the peer-to-peer meeting of financers and promoters in April and the Presentations of the project organised in April and October 2016 in Madrid, served to deliver directly to the key agents the document and also the occasion of explaining it by its own authors.

Other printed or online marketing materials were produced for workshops, meetings, events, and letters presenting the initiative, invitations to the events, among others. We keep documents and reports informing about the results or conclusions of the events or webinars organized. Some of them were used in mailings and other documents can be consulted on the website in the format of news, or downloadable resources.

Any other relevant deliverable of the project (such as handbooks, guides, reports, manuals, documents of conclusions on the collective events, etc.) was loaded in the e-Platform at the RESOURCES section; link: https://www.enerinvest.es/recursos/ . This section also includes a short summary describing the contents and structure of the documents as the following figure shows.

ENERINVEST productions have been distributed through the website, social media and or targeted mailing to specific target groups.

RESULTS OF MONITORING AND EVALUATION ACTIVITIES

During the first 18 months the WP7 Leader made a follow-up of the Communication and Dissemination activities and the effectiveness in the use of the tools proposed.

Taking into account that it is not possible to quantify the results of the whole range of the communication and dissemination activities carried out, a series of tasks and mechanisms have been selected in order to estimate the impact achieved. This variables can be quantified in terms of their impact, evaluated and reprogrammed if needed according to the results obtained.

Among others, the number and type of role of users registered in the platform, the analysis of the traffic generated on the website and the activity in social networks can give an estimation of the degree of impact achieved.

Engagement of Target Groups in the e-Platform

The monitoring of the number of users registered in the platform has been made since September 2016, once the REGISTRATION section was implemented on the Website.

In the first 10 months of activity a total of 415 registered users have joined, with an evolution in the number of active registrations shown in the following figure:

Figure 16: Evolution in the number of registered users of the e-Platform.

The impact results of the massive and coordinated communication and dissemination campaigns is observed in the growth in number of users from November 2016.

Also the tasks made for enriching the contents and options of the web page (especially news or activities published and resources uploaded) had a positive effect.

Page 36: D7.6. 1st Dissemination Report · The identification and involvement of key players in technical, legal, financial management aspects, and policy decision making of SEPs, of the objectives

Página 36 de 47

ENERINVEST WP7 - D.7.6. – First Dissemination Report - EN-Final version.

The peer-to-peer meeting in April 2017 caused a remarkable increase in all profiles or roles defined. In addition to this, the announcement of the first collective event and the period after it was held have also raised the number of registrations.

However, 10 months of activity on the web is not enough time to obtain objective conclusions as to the degree of interest and involvement of the key players in the sustainable energy projects. The following table and pie chart show the distribution according to the registered user profiles.

User's Role Total Investor 40 Public promoter 64 Private promoter 33 ESCOs and technical companies 132

Other Stakeholders 146 Total 415

As a result of this analysis we can obtain some conclusions:

• In the first 10 months of monitoring around 67% of registered users are ESCOs and technical companies along with the category of other interested users (other Stakeholders).

The important number of this generic category reflects that the visitors of the web do show interest in the project, but they are not specially identified with any of the categories or roles defined in the register proposal.

• However, this generic public may be an interesting target audience to consider. Their doubts or difficulty to decide a direct role in sustainable energy projects may be due to their perception of a certain commitment at the time of registration.

• In spite of this, the sum of the key players formed by the categories of public promoters, private promoters and investors is above 65%. This enables the meeting between both parties, promoters and funders, making it viable to establish connections in the computer-based assessment tool, Enerintool.

As a future objective, some of the commercial and professional relationships initiated could result in proposals of new SEPs investments.

Web evaluation and results of the analysis

In order to keep track of the traffic generated by the website associated with the ENERINVEST project, a rigorous monitoring process and analysis has been carried out by EnerAgen, using the Google Analytics tool. Monthly reports in the period between September 2016 and June 2017 have been collected. This tool provides a wealth of information about the effectiveness of our website and how users are interacting with it.

In order to show the monitoring of the monthly data, two significant periods of time have been chosen. The period between September and December 2016, and the period between January and June 2017. A comparison of the most relevant data will be shown in this section, together with a collection of images downloaded from the analysis tool.

The following features or key performance indicators have been chosen as those of more interest. They will allow to make a diagnosis of our website and to apply corrective actions or a greater development in future months.

Audience Overview:

The following table shows the results for the global period of 10 months tracked, that is from the 1st of September 2016 to the 30th of June 2017.

The most visited pages in a first interaction are the News section, the Registration form and the sub-section About Us in the ENERINVEST site.

In a second interaction users have priority access to the Activities and Resources sections. Inside the Resources menu, there is major traffic to the Map of Experiences, with a great increase from November and December 2016. Secondly traffic flows to the subsection Documents. The visits to the Registration form also increased, due to resources only available for registered users. As a result, the number of registered users in the e-Platform had a progressive rise.

In May and June 2017, the flow of users has focused on Activities and News, and in the first ENERINVEST Collective Event in Barcelona held on the14th of June.

It is remarkable the number of visits to the section of the ENERINTOOL since May 2017. This resource is currently available in a beta version, and has caused expectation in the public, so it is expected that the number of registered users will increase significantly.

Figure 19: Users Flow Report in June'17

Demographics and Language data:

Since the website is edited in three languages, Spanish, English and Catalan, it is also relevant to know from which languages the site is mostly receiving visits.

For each of the two periods analyzed the geographical areas where traffic is generated are shown on a map on a global scale, and also in greater detail in Spain.

The languages from which our website is most visited are Spanish and Catalan, followed by English. It would be interesting a growth in the English version, so that the possibility of translating a greater part of non-static contents should be considered.

As for the geographical areas from which the web were visited, Spain and Europe stand out, followed by Latin America and the United States. Within Spain there is an important web follow-up from Catalonia, Madrid and the central area, from the northwest and the Basque Country.

Overview of Acquisitions and Traffic Reference:

The form of access or how Web users have reached it, also allows us to evaluate the effectiveness of social networks or the interest aroused from other web portals.

The access to the site from social media is important and has increased in the second period. More than 35% of users have looked for the project in general browsers, which shows that it has interested to public. Access should be increased from external links with the incorporation
