New York Post, Thursday, March 10, 2016 nypost.com 42 By ZACHARY KUSSIN T he race to develop Gotham’s most fam- ily-friendly luxury rentals is getting even hotter thanks to the arrival of The easton. The 230-unit tower at 205 e. 92nd St. launches leasing today and gives NYC families a special nod, and not just with its larger units. Sure, the building’s three- and four-bedroom dwellings (beginning at 1,600 and 2,200 square feet, respectively) offer plenty of space for growth, but there’s also a robust kid-friendly amenity package. The Post got an exclusive first look at these jam-packed features, part of a larger trend of new developments with major kid-focused areas across New York. The easton will housea 3,000-square-foot indoor/ outdoor play area and a separate 3,000-square-foot space called The Agora — an ancient Greek word that means gathering place. Much of The Agora’s focus is educational. It will have carrels for homework, dedi- cated rooms for students and tutors and three sound-proof rehearsal studios — two feature Steinway pianos for private music lessons, while the other has a ballet barre. But it’s not all for serious pursuits. The “tween room” will have a gaming arcade and lounge for watching movies. The building will charge a to-be-determined fee for access to The Agora. What’s clear is that pricing for will initially range from $4,400 for a one-bedroom to $15,995 for a four-bedroom. “The family segment has grown in Manhattan,” says Bryan Cho, executive vice president at Related Compa- nies, which is developing this 39-story ground-up project, adding that families in need of larger homes have been an under- served part of the market. “Families of all ages have chosen to remain in Manhattan, as opposed to [moving to] the suburbs.” Of course, there will be ample amenities for older residents when the building opens in May. They include a penthouse-level lounge and billiards room, and a party and dining room with catering kitchen, plus landscaped terraces with barbe- cue grills and pan- oramic city views. Related Rentals will handle leasing of the units, whose kitchens and bathrooms come designed by architect S. Russell Groves (inset below). One- and two-bedroom pads include custom cabinetry, wood floors, ceilings over 9 feet high and wireless control of temperature and lighting. Meanwhile, three- and four- bedroom units, which begin on the 30th floor, will deliver separate kitchens with Sub- Zero, Miele and Wolf appli- ances, 10-foot ceilings and smart-home features. nyp home tested, parent approved!
