Conditional access (CA) is a technology used to control access to digital television services to authorized users by encrypting the transmitted programming.

Customer need to pay for the programmes which he wants to view.

Encryption system used to secure content and grant access only to subscribers.

A Common Interface or CI slot provides a standard interface to allow a set-top box to support a variety of conditional access encryption systems.
