1. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY 1.1. Description of the deliverable content and purpose This report summarizes the dissemination activity carried out in the first Period of the FluidCELL project. Different actions have been taken to disseminate the project targets and achievements. They included activities dedicated to general public (i.e. web-site, a public presentation summarizing the main targets and a biannual newsletter) as well as to selected audience through presentation/papers in scientific conferences/journals. Oral presentations on FluidCELL project were given at the workshop on Scale-up of Pd Membrane Technology and the ICCMR 12 conference where a leaflet was prepared as well. Abstracts to conferences specific to catalyst and fuel cell development have been submitted and will be presented in the near future. 1.2. Deviation from objectives There was no deviation from objectives

2. Description of the activities The dissemination activities carried out in the first 18 months of FluidCELL project are described according to the following categories.

• Construction of a web-page;

• Preparation of Public presentation and leaflet;

• Attendance to scientific workshop conferences;

• Publication of scientific papers;

• Newsletter; Each of this activity is discussed in detail in the following dedicated sections

2.1. Web-site A web-site www.fludicell.eu was prepared at the beginning of the project. The portal was adopted to quickly communicate news and events related to FluidCELL. Since the web-site can be visited by both general public and scientist, it contains general information about the objectives of the project/partnership, main achievements as well as detailed activities/results realized in the project. In the dissemination page, any public presentation/poster and scientific paper related to the project without any confidential information were made available. A screenshot of the homepage is reported below.

2.2. Public presentation and leaflet i) Public presentation: The non-confidential project presentation is considered an efficient way to communicate the key-point of the project. The purpose of the public presentation is to present the objectives and the status of the projects, the activity and achievements as well as the events related to the field. The public presentations can be downloaded from the website (http://www.fluidcell.eu/content/presentations). Two public presentations have been delivered during this period:

➢ The 1st public presentation, describing the project, objectives, consortium and main activities. ➢ The 2nd public presentation at month 18 with the latest information on the status of the project,

activities and achievements. The first objective of the public presentations which can be downloaded by any web-page visitor is to inform about the project content. Furthermore, not including any confidential content, it could be used by any beneficiary in the consortium to present the FluidCELL project, goals and achievements. ii) Leaflet: As part of the dissemination activity a leaflet of the project has been drafted and printed. This leaflet includes the main information of the project. The leaflet was drafted in correspondence to the 12th International Conference on Catalysis in Membrane Reactors (ICCMR12) which will be held from June 22 – 25, 2015 in Szczecin (Poland), where the FluidCELL project was advertised. Now it is also used for disseminating FluidCELL in the frame of other events attended by the consortium members as well as in the same institution The leaflet is attached in the Annex 1. 2.3. Workshop and Conference dissemination activities Attendance to workshop and conferences was one of the main way adopted to communicate the communicate project achievements within the scientific community. Compared to scientific publications, workshop and conferences are really useful because there is a real-time response from the scientific community. Therefore, in the first period of FluidCELL project, quite a few actions were taken in this direction. Since in the first part of the project, most of the research activities were dedicated to development of the fuel processor development rather than the overall process, conferences on membrane and membrane reactor were the selected target aligned with the advancements of the project. Main events and dissemination activities were: 1. The 12th International Conference on Catalysis in Membrane Reactors (ICCMR12) June 22 – 25,

2015 in Szczecin (Poland). ➢ Oral presentation: “Preparation and characterization of ultra-thin (< 1 μm) palladium-silver

membranes”, D.A. Pacheco Tanaka1, J. Melendez, E. Fernandez, Pedro L. Arias, A. Helmi and F. Gallucci,

➢ Poster: “Preparation and characterization of ultra-thin (< 1 μm) Pd-Ag membranes on porous alumina support (100 nm pore size)”, J. Melendez, E. Fernandez, A. Helmi, F. Gallucci, Pedro L. Arias and D.A. Pacheco Tanaka.

2. The Czech-Italian-Spanish Conference on Molecular Sieves and Catalysis (GIC 2015) ➢ Poster: “Ethanol Steam Reforming on Pt-Ni/CeO2 catalysts supported on mesoporous silica” (by

Vincenzo Palma, Concetta Ruocco, Eugenio Meloni, Antonio Ricca and Paolo Ciambelli) The oral presentation and poster are included in Annex 2. 2.4. Publication of scientific papers Even if the project is only halfway, meaning that some activities haven’t started yet, quite a few efforts were dedicated to the submission of papers for scientific journals. Publication to scientific journal is run in parallel to the attendance of workshop/conferences, because of the different and wider audience. The two publications were about membrane development and system design which are activities almost completed in the first part of the project. 1. “Development of highly permeable ultra-thin Pd-based supported membranes” E. Fernandez, J. A.

Sanchez-García, J. Melendez, V. Spallina, M. van Sint Annaland, F. Gallucci and D.A. Pacheco Tanaka submitted to Chemical Engineering Journal.

2. “Optimization of a micro-CHP system based on fluidized bed membrane reactor fed with bio-ethanol

and PEM fuel cells” S. Foresti and G. Manzolini submitted to International Journal of Hydrogen Energy

2.5. Newsletters Last dissemination activity performed was the preparation of a biannual newsletter. A newsletter can be read by any person and give the idea of the main targets/achievements of the project. However, results and achievements dealing with IP issues cannot be disclosed. Three newsletters have been delivered during this period. The newsletter was used to keep up to date the public, scientific community and industry as well as associations and/or platforms with the advancements of the project with respect to the planned activity and targets. The newsletters are available in the public website (http://www.fluidcell.eu/content/communication) and they were also sent via email to the companies/organization involved in the fuel cell and hydrogen sector. A short example of the organization in the mailing list of the newsletter is detailed in the table hereafter.
