D1SA – Spartans Giving Back!

Help Them Help the Children byMeeting Their Goal of $100,000

Athletes and family members of D1SA are getting together to donate their time at the 21st Annual Van Metre 5 Mile Run for Children’s Hospital.

Volunteers are needed to help out on the race route, with clean up, and at water stops.

DIRECTIONS TO BROADLANDSFrom the Beltway, follow Dulles Toll Road West.

Take the Dulles Greenway to Exit 6 (RT 772) Ashburn/Broadlands Exit. Left at exit ramp, then left onto Wynridge Drive to the Broadlands Marketplace.

This is a great opportunity for our Spartan athletes to give back to the community. If you are interested in having your athlete or family volunteer email [email protected] so we can reserve your slot. We need firm commitments so that race assignments can be set up and assigned by the organizer. Come out and show your support and be part of the “Spartan Nation”!Together we stand as Spartans. “Prepare for Glory! Please come in your Spartan Spirit Wear!

D1SA is much more than just Sports and Athletics. As part of D1SA’s mission to develop leadership & civic service in our young athletes, Spartans will be doing community service projects throughout the year.

D1 Sports & Athletics (D1SA)Introduces Spartan Academics

• SOL - Spring Group Tutoring Sessions (March - May) : SOL (English Workshop) - This workshop will help students prepare for English Reading/Writing SOL. Max Class size is 10 student athletes. Price: $100 (Qty. 10/1 hour sessions).

SOL (Math Workshop) - This workshop will help students prepare for Math SOL. Max Class size is 10 student athletes. Price: $100 (Qty. 10/1 hour sessions).

• One-on-One Tutoring : Individualized help for student athletes in Math or English. Student Athletes will be working with a high school student as the tutor. Price: $15 per 1 hour session.

• Summer Tutoring Programs : Summer work focusing on improving English Vocabulary, Math and other academic subjects needed as well as introducing the peer “Students helping other Students” program.

• Summer Camp (English Workshop) ( June - August) Once a Week : This workshop will help students prepare for the 1,000 word study needed for the Pre-SAT exam. Students will work on apx. 50 words each week with a different types of vocabulary exercises. Max Class size is 10.

D1SA not only focuses on competitive and development Basketball but also on developing our Student Athletes.

It is our goal to provide an environment that fosters leadership, sportsmanship, honesty, & integrity with a strong focus on teamwork both on and off the court for our student athletes. The Vision of the program is to develop Players Academically.
