Responsibilities & Duties of PD

Project Director was responsible for the whole project implementation over 7 districts under fivecomponents and it mainly focused on the rapid recovery of assets and essential infrastructure destroyed byTsunami, including housing, housing amenities, settlement infrastructure, social infrastructure and fisheriesroads, community infrastructure, and removal of debris. It applied a flexible community approach and incoordination with other funding sources, it supported recovery and rehabilitation of physical and financialassets of affected groups and communities. The target group included poor rural women and men intsunami affected communities and targeting was the type and size of support provided.

Carrying out valuation of residential, commercial, industrial, leisure & agricultural sector properties for mortgage lending bybanks, asset revaluations under IFRS for Firms of Chartered Accountants & Companies, and private valuations ofproperties and real estate consultancies for various purposes for public authorities, corporate companies, firms andindividuals in both local & overseas, also includes duties mainly management of human resources & finance, corporatemanagement, policy making and strategic planning.

Post Tsunami Coastal & Rehabilitation & Resource Management Project funded by International Fund for AgriculturalDevelopment (IFAD) implemented under the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development.

The project was run over 6 years period at the cost us $ 40 million. The project director was responsible foroverall project management & implementation including preparation of annual work plan & the budget,procurement of contractors, resources and consultants, contract management, active planning, selection,implementation & monitoring, human resource planning, recruitment & management, conflict resolution,finance planning, monitoring & controlling, project evaluation, impact assessment and reporting,preparation of annual report, interim reports & conducting programs for project knowledge sharing &knowledge management etc. Also coordinated and managed project steering committee for policy planningand line ministries, public & private agencies involved in project implementation and entire human & otherresource management of the project.

Major works included construction of 2 mini harbours, 4 anchorages, 15 landing sites, 850 houses, ruralroad, and community centers etc. Construction of Trinco wholesale fish market, construction of trainingcenter for ocean university, improvement of sanitary facilities for communities, activities for coastalrestoration & resource management, socio-economic development activities for livelihood developmentincluding 3000 micro enterprises and policy support & gender development etc.
