Block Assembly1. Sew (1) B 1-1/2” x 7-1/2”strip to each side of (1) A 7-1/2” square. Sew (1) B 1-1/2” x 9-1/2” strip to the top and to the bottom of the A square to make (1) Unit 1 square (Fig. 1). Repeat to make (9) Unit 1 squares total.

2. Place (1) D 2-3/4” square on the left side of C 2-3/4” x 5” strip, right sides together (Fig. 2). Sew across the diagonal of the square from the upper right corner to the lower left corner (Fig. 2). Flip open the triangle formed and press (Fig. 3). Trim away the excess fabric from behind the triangle, leaving a ¼” seam allowance.

3. Place another D 2-3/4” square on the right side of the C 2-3/4” x 5” strip, right sides together (Fig. 4). Sew across the diagonal of the square from the upper left corner to the lower right corner (Fig. 4). Flip open the triangle formed and press. Trim away the excess fabric from behind the triangle, leaving a ¼” seam allowance to make (1) Unit 2 strip (Fig. 5).

4. Repeat Steps 2-3 to make (120) Unit 2 strips total.

Pay attention to the orientation of the units in the following steps.5. Sew (2) Unit 2 strips together end to end to make (1) Unit 3 strip (Fig. 6). Repeat to make (36) Unit 3 strips total.

6. Sew (1) C 2-3/4” x 5” strip to the top of (1) Unit 2 strip to make (1) Unit 4 square (Fig. 7). Repeat to make (48) Unit 4 squares total.

7. Sew (1) F 2-3/4”square to each end of (1) Unit 3 strip to make the top strip. Repeat to make the bottom strip. Sew (1) Unit 3 strip to each side of (1) Unit 1 square to make the middle row. Sew the (3) Rows together to make (1) Block One square (Fig. 8). Repeat to make (9) Block One squares total.

8. Sew (1) Unit 4 square to the top and to the bottom of (1) E 5” square to make (1) Block Two rectangle (Fig. 9). Repeat to make (24) Block Two rectangles.

Note: The arrows in Figure 10 denote fabric print direction. Pay attention to the direction when making the Sashing Strips.9. Sew (4) G 5” squares and (3) Block Two rectangles together end to end and alternating them to make (1) Sashing Strip (Fig. 10). Repeat to make (4) Sashing Strips total.

Quilt Top Assembly (Refer to the Quilt Diagram while assembling the quilt top.)10. Sew together (4) Block Two rectangles and (3) Block One squares, alternating them, to make Row One. Repeat to make Row Two and Row Three.

11. Sew together the (4) Sashing Strips and (3) Rows, alternating them, to make the Center Block.

12. Sew (1) F 2-1/4” x 59” strip to each side of the Center Block. Sew (1) F 2-1/4” x 62-1/2” strip to the top and to the bottom of the Center Block.

13. Sew (1) H 4-1/2” x 62-1/2”strip to each side of the Center Block. Sew (1) F 4-1/2” square to each end of (1) H 4-1/2” x 62-1/2”strip. Repeat to make a second strip. Sew the strips to the top and to the bottom of the Center Block to make the quilt top.

Finishing14. Layer and quilt as desired.

15. Sew the (7) I 2-1/2” x WOF strips together end-to-end with 45-degree seams to make the binding. Fold this long strip in half lengthwise with wrong sides together and press.

16. Bind as desired.
