This hip roofed frame house is two and one half stories high and has a large hip roofed dormer on the front with a Palladian window. The projecting eaves of the roof are supported by brackets. There are only two bays on the front although the two second story windows are actually double windows. There is a flat roofed portico in front of the doorway supported by four Doric columns at the corners. On the north side of the house is a two story bay window.

This house was built in the first quarter of the twentieth century

by Donald Stewart, youngest son of Judge James A. Stewart. (See 203

High Street). The lot was the site of a cottage built in 1851 by Judge

Stewart. On his death in 1879, the lot passed to his widow Rebecca,

who devised it to her son Donald in 1899. Donald tore down the cottage

and built this vernacular style house. The strucutre is not particularly

significant from an architectural or historical point of view, but

blends in with the other historic houses on High Street.
