INTRODUCTION

Cyprus Canada Inc. completed a gold exploration program on the Roxmark property during July to September, 1996. Field work consisted of the establishment of two grids, totalling 62.8 kilometres of cut line, which were subsequently geologically mapped and rock sampled and surveyed with magnetometer and VLF.

The line cutting and ground magnetometer and VLF surveys were completed by Exsics Exploration Limited during July and August, 1996. The results are presented and discussed by J. C. Grant in his report titled "Geophysical Report For Cyprus Canada Inc. on the Roxmark-Geraldton Project" and dated September, 1996.

This report describes the results of the geological mapping and rock sampling program conducted between August 16 and September 24, 1996. The program was managed by David B. Stevenson and the field crew consisted of Mike Roberts, Joe Dion, Mark Ben, Al McChesney, Jesse Nadon, and Ed Church.

LOCATION AND ACCESS

The Roxmark property is located in Errington and Lindsley townships, approximately 11 kilometres west of Geraldton in north-western Ontario (Figure 1). The property is accessed via a combination of old dirt roads leading north from highway 11 onto the property and canoe or boat travel on adjacent waterways.

Geraldton, is reached by daily turboprop flights from Thunder Bay, Ontario or by Highway 11 by motor vehicle. Geraldton is located approximately 502 kilometres west by highway from Timmins, Ontario.

CLAIMS AND OWNERSHIP

The Roxmark property consists of five separate properties of which each is subject to separate underlying agreements (Figure 2). The properties include the Placer Dome Inc. (PDI) option, Algoma Steel purchase, Golden Trio purchase, Ateba option and Roxmark wholly-owned claims. Roxmark Mines Ltd. holds a luO.% interest in all the above properties, subject to their respective agreements. Roxmark Mines Ltd. head office is located at 80 Richmond St. W., Suite 801, Toronto, Ontario, M5H 2A4.

On January 15, 1996 Cyprus Canada Inc. signed a Mining Venture Agreement with Roxmark Mines Limited where by Cyprus may earn a 6007o interest in the Roxmark property by completing a 32.0 million work expenditure and making annual cash payments totalling S250,000 by January 15, 2000. Cyprus has the option to increase it's interest to 8007o by agreeing to fund Roxmark's share of Exploration and Development costs from the commencement of commercial production at a rate of prime plus 20xk. Underlying NSR's range between 2 and 3 percent.

The 115 claims comprising the property encompass approximately 2,288 hectares in the Errington and Lindsley townships in the Geraldton area of north-western Ontario.

PREVIOUS WORK

Mineral prospecting has been on-going in the Geraldton area since the early 1930's when gold was first discovered. Although much of this work has been recorded with the government assessment files, there is no historical data for the area covered by the two grids.

Nevertheless, a summary of previous exploration work conducted in Lindsley and Errington townships is given below:

Lindsley Township

1934: Jelicoe Gold Mining Company acquired land to the west of the Bankfield Mine, as well as land along the projected strike of a gold bearing zone located at Magnet Lake. Stripping and diamond drilling revealed a auriferous zone on present claim TB12406.

1936: Jelicoe Consolidated Gold Mines Ltd. drilled 4,391 metres outlying a small low-grade deposit on claim TB12149.

1937-1940: Jelcoe Mines (1939) Ltd. mines out the deposit.

1963: Jelicoe Mines (1939) Ltd. changed its name to Jelex Mines Ltd.

1973: Old mine records are re-examined. Ground magnetometer and V.L.F. surveys were performed. Two diamond drill holes tested resulting targets. No significant results were encountered

1978: Jelex Mines Ltd. changed its name to Key Lake Explorations Ltd.

1982: Dome Exploration Canada Ltd. options property. 100m interval grid was cut with ground magnetometer survey.

1983-1984: IP. and V.L.F. surveys were carried out over the property.

1983-1990: Placer Dome Inc. drilled 87 diamond drill holes outlining a very low grade potential deposit.

1996: Cyprus Canada Inc. drilled 13 diamond drill holes confirming the low grade deposit.

REGIONAL GEOLOGY

The Geraldton-Beardmore Greenstone Belt is bounded to the north by granitoid rocks of the Onaman-Twin Lakes Batholith Complex and to the south by granitoid metamorphosed migmatitic rocks. The Geraldton district is located in the eastern half of the Geraldton-Beardmore Greenstone Belt.

A table of regional sequences and their respective formations can be found in Table 3 (Pye, Horwood, 1951). These sequences consist of a unit of fine grained clastic sediments referred to as "Group B" sediments (Pye, Horwood, 1951) that is bounded on the south by mafic to intermediate volcanics which disconformably overlie a coarser grained metasedimentary unit known as "Group A".

Both sedimentary groups thin to the north and are overlain by mafic to intermediate volcanics. The metasedimentary-metavolcanic assemblage has been intruded by stocks, sills, and dykes that range from felsic to mafic in composition. Late Precambrian diabase dykes intrude all rock types. The regional metamorphic grade is greenschist facies.Folding is about east-west trending axes. Formations in the Geraldton area form part of a regional structure known as the Long Lac Syncline. Several minor folds associated with this major structure have been identified; these include the Barton Syncline, the Talmora anticline and the Ellis syncline. Later intrafolial and drag folding has been

superimposed on these structures. Several major longitudinal faults trend east-west, roughly parallel to the axial planes of the fold structures.

Many of the gold deposits in the Geraldton camp are spatially related to the Bankfield- Tombill fault. Most gold production in the Geraldton camp has come from zones directly north of the Bankfield-Tombill fault.

In addition, isoclinal and drag folding appear to control much of the ore structure in the Geraldton camp. The ore-bearing structures often occupy dilatancies roughly axial planar to the folds and exibit plunges to the west of 24-40 degrees.

Mineralization has historically been recognized as two dominant types. The bulk of production has come from free gold in quartz stringer zones, characterized by pyrite and arsenopyrite with associated sericitization in proximity to feldspar porphyry bodies. About 30^6 of the gold production in the Geraldton camp occurred in quartz sulphide bodies associated with banded iron formation.

The Croll Lake Stock, a granitic stock in the east end of the Geraldton camp is thought to be a possible source of the auriferous hydrothermal fluids (Pye, Horwood, 1951).

1996 EXPLORATION PROGRAM

Linecutting

During July and August, 1996, Exsics Exploration Ltd. cut two grids on the property. Grid A, or West grid, represents the larger grid centered near the Magnet Lake area and covers 46.9 kilometres. Grid B, or East grid, represents the smaller grid cut along the north side of Barton Bay and encompasses 15.9 kilometres of cut lines. (Figure 3).

Geophysics

Total field magnetic and VLF-EM surveys were completed on the two grids. The linecutting and geophysics were conducted during July and August, 1996 by Exsics Exploration Ltd. and the results of the surveys are presented in their report (Grant, 1996).

Geological Mapping

A crew of five worked for 35 days walking along and in between the grid lines. Outcrops occurring between lines were located using pace and compass. Outcrops were hand stripped of moss where required using grub hoes and hands. Prospecting by all crewmembers was carried out and rock samples for gold assay were taken when any mineralization and alteration was found. Outcrop location, shape, size and descriptive information were recorded on graph paper at 1:2500 scale and then transferred to a property map at camp. The composite geology was then interpreted and digitized at the Timmins office.

PROPERTY GEOLOGY

In order of decreasing abundance the lithology of the main rock units encountered in the geological mapping program are outlined as follows:

Pyroxenite Gabbro (I4a): generally composed of very coarse crystalline (up to 1cm)pyroxene-rich to finer grained (1-2mm) phases. When altered, the unit becomes softer (hardness 3-4), more chloritized and talcose in nature and reacts more vigorously to 10 percent HCL solution. Generally, the unit exhibits non to weak magnetic attraction. The unit locally contains fine disseminations of minor pyrite.

Plagioclase Diorite Porphyry (I2p): consisting of well formed to rounded phenocryst^of andesine (20-25 percent) in a fine grained aggregate of feldspar, biotite, chlorite, and quartz. The outcrops weather to a dull white or pinkish white surface. Locally the biotite has been altered to irregular masses of chlorite. Generally the andesine feldspar has been slightly altered to sericite and epidote. Locally this unit may transcend towards a hornblende diorite.

Diorite (12): generally composed of 5007o white plagioclase feldspars with 4007o darkgreen coarse grained blocky crystals of hornblende with rounded quartz,

epidote, sericite and carbonate filling the spaces between the plagioclase crystals. The unit is generally massive and weathers a dark green and/or pink. Its speckled texture gives it a granitic appearance. Calcite and chlorite are fairly abundant with chlorite being secondary after hornblende. The unit moderately effervesces with 1007o HCL acid solution.

Intermediate Volcanic (V6): Possibly an andesite this unit consists of andesine feldspar, hornblende, amphibole, epidote, carbonate, chlorite, sericite, and minor quartz. This unit is light green to medium green in colour and fine grained to medium grained. This unit appears massive on weathered surfaces with a faint east - west schistosity.

Greywacke (S3): consisting of fragmental with subangular to irregular grains ofquartz and feldspar set in a matrix of highly altered plagioclase and quartz with carbonate, sericite, and chlorite. Units are grey with a greenish cast due to chlorite content. Weathered outcrops have a pebbly surface with small fragments of quartz and feldspar. Bedding is well developed and common occurrences of

thick beds of fine grained, feldspathic greywacke alternate with thin laminae of very fine grained, chloritic greywacke.

Conglomerate (S1): contains pebbles of quartz, chert, quartz and feldspar porphyries,

granodiorites, and greenstone imbedded in a greywacke matrix.

Due to the lack of outcrop exposure stratigraphic correlation was not possible. However, Horwood and Pye (1951) interpret the Roxmark grid is underlain by east-west striking, steeply dipping sediments consisting of greywackes, conglomerates, arkose and banded iron formation. In the central part of the grid these formations are intruded by semi- to conformable sills of diorite/gabbro and plagioclase diorite porphyry. The sediments are in contact with intermediate volcanics to the north.

Structure

No evidence of folding was observed on the property but this may be due to the lack of exposure. Geophysical interpretation suggests that the property contains a number of tight isoclinal folds and /or minor faulting (See Geophysical Maps #3-6).

Alteration

Regional greenschist facies metamorphism appears to have affected all rocks in the Geraldton Area with weak to moderate seritization. A later stage in the metamorphism may have introduced carbonate alteration.

Mineralization

Little to no mineralization occurs in the few outcrops encountered. Trace to one percent pyrite occurs locally within quartz stringers or as fine disseminations.

Table 4 provides a summary of the location, description, and gold values of the outcrops sampled.

Topography and Vegetation

Terrain on the Roxmark property is quite flat, with the exception of the western boundary where an esker of glacial sand and gravel runs northeast providing approximately 30 metres of vertical relief. Locally, small 2-5 metre drumlinoids run northeast throughout the property. A mixed forest of black spruce, balsam, jackpine, tamarack, poplar, balsam fir, and birch cover most of the property. Low areas around Magnet Lake, Magnet Creek, and Magnet Bay are swampy and are thick with alders and cedar with local floating bogs. Less than 1 07o outcrop occurs on the property and overburden is known to be up to 20 metres thick.

CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS

The Roxmark property is underlain by a sequence of Precambrian age steeply dipping greywacke, arkose and interbedded iron formation which have been intruded by quartz- feldspar porphyry and diorite dykes or sills which exibit conformable and cross-cutting relationships.

Due to the lack of outcrop exposure geological mapping did not provide any new information which assisted in our evaluation of the bulk tonnage gold potential of the "porkose horizon". No outcrops of the "porkose horizon" were uncovered nor were there any significant gold values encountered from those outcrops sampled. However, the magnetometer and VLF surveys were successful in defining several anomalies including geological contacts, faulting and folding of the formations.

Recommendations for further work would include following up on the magnetometer and VLF surveys with an Induced Polarization survey to better define the source of the VLF targets and to test their validity. The IP survey would then be correlated with the previous geophysical surveys and any geological information to outline potential drill targets.

Appendix l

Inchcape Testing Services Assay Procedure

Determination of Gold by Fire Assay lead collection AAS measurement and gravimetric finish.

1) 30 grams of powdered sample is weighed into a fusion crucible.2) The sample is then mixed with a lead oxide base flux, silica powder,

flour or potassium nitrate are added to the mixture depending on the characteristics of the sample.

3) A amount of silver is added to the mixture, normally around 4 mg.4) A charge of 24 pots or crucibles are fused at 1050 degree C. for not less

than 45 minutes (21 unknown + 1 blank and 1 standard + 1 pulp duplicate).

5) Then the fusion melt is poured into a cast iron mould and allowed to cool.

6) The collecting agent, lead metal, is then separated from the "glass like"- slag.

7) The lead button is then heated at 850 degree C. on a magnesiumcrucible referred as cupel, the lead is absorbed by the cupel leaving the precious metals on the surface of this same cupel in the form of a bead, referred as to "Dore Bead".

AAS Measurement

A) The Dore Bead is digested in aqua-regia for 1-2 hours.B) Gold concentration in solution is then measured using Atomic Absorption

Spectrometry.

Gravimetric Finish

A) The Dore Bead is digested is then flattened and placed in nitric acid to dissolve all the silver. The solution is then decanted and remaining dore bead is dried and annealed to remove all the carbon coating.

B) The clean bead (Gold) is then weighed on a micro-balance to determine the concentration (1mg Au=1oz/Ton= 34.286g7t).

Sample Preparation

Routine sample preparation.

Dry, crush 90 07o minus 60 mesh.Split a subsample of 500 g. using Jones Riffle splitter.Pulverize 9807o minus 200 mesh using Ring and Puck type pulverizer.Homogenizing on a mat prior to take the sub sample for analysis.

Dry, crush 7007o minus 10 mesh.Total pulverization using ring and puck type pulverizer.Screening entire sample through 150 mesh screen.Weighing both fractions * and -150 mesh.The entire + 1 50 mesh will be Fire Assay-Gravimetric finish.The entire -150 mesh will be homogenize by mixing in a two axlesrotation barrel prior to take the two sub-sample for analysis.
