What is often lost in these headlines is the fact thatnearly half of the cyberattacks worldwide wereagainst businesses with fewer than 250 employees

One reason may be that smaller businesses arent asconcerned as they should be about the problem Arecent study commissioned by Oracle WhatsKeeping SMB Leaders Up at Night had security issuesnear the bottom of their overall concerns with only135 percent citing security issues as their biggestconcern

In many cases the hacked information is held forransom released only when the owner of the smallto midsize business (SMB) pays a signicant price toget it back Hacked information is also used to robbank accounts via wire steal personal identityinformation hijack websites and le for fraudulenttax refunds
