bullISO New England Inc located in Holyoke Massachusetts has been

rewarded $37 million in federal funding to develop a smarter more efficient

energy grid

bullThe US Department of Energy chose ISO New England as one of 100

companies nationwide to receive federal stimulus funds as part of the American

Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009

bullThe project started in 2010 and its focus is to install 30 synchrophasors and

connect the independent systems operators in New England to increase

response time to real time system events and reduce congestion by being able

to collect and share synchrophasor and disturbance data with other regions for

bullThe project started in 2010 and its focus is to install 30 synchrophasors and

connect the independent systems operators in New England to increase

response time to real time system events and reduce congestion by being able

to collect and share synchrophasor and disturbance data with other regions for

wide area monitoring

Equipment

-Synchrophasor Communications Network-40 Phasor Measurement Units-Phasor Data Concentrators

Targeted Benefits

-Reduced Wide-Scale Blackouts-Increased Electric Service Reliability
