Intervention in the Environment of the Cathedral of Jerez de la FronteraHigher Technical School of Architecture of Seville - Projects 3 - Professor: Fernando Carrascal and José Luis Daroca - Academic Year 2004-2005

1

The project is based on retrieving and organizing the urban fabric of the historic center of Jerez, particularly in the area of the Cathedral, characterized by large differences in elevation which, along with mismanagement of public spaces, make that an area, which should primarily be a cultural historic landmark, becoming an area of passage and parking of vehicles, without any attraction for visitors. Thus, the proposal is to create a continuous area of gentle slopes, which lead us naturally to the various attractions of the whole, creating an attractive route for tourists and the inhabitants of the city.We extend Encarnacion Square turning it into the only horizontal plane union of two streets: Manuel Maria Gonzalez and Arroyo. With all this facts, we get a smooth transit for us, from the commercial area of the city to the new Music Center and Exhibition, which will provide life-building to this area of the city.

House for a Sculptor in SevilleHigher Technical School of Architecture of Seville - Basis of Dwelling - Professors: Enrique de Haro and Jorge Peña - Academic Year 2005-2006

2

The housing proposal is a cube of 8 meters square, which is 0.95 meters dunked under the level of the firm. The house is a workshop-house for a sculptor. It is inserted at the end of the basin of the Guadalquivir River in Seville. So the place has a great views of the river and the whole forest on the west bank. The orientation of the building is given, in addition to these views, because of its relationship with the sculpture commemorating of the V Centenary of the Discovery of America. Two walls with 35 cm thick cross the house going out of it, and show us the direction of these two magnificent views, thus linking them with the own home.

_Residencial: Three pieces are proposed. The first one is a longitudinal piece which is aligned to the main road of the site, and it will make closing the neighborhood streets that lead to the sun. The second piece is oriented east-west, and it will make a filter between the two large spaces that are created. Finally, the southernmost piece will end the quarter, and primarily the boulevard that runs along Los Bermejales from north to south._Public Area: located on the limit of the block and it’s proposed as a continuation of the boulevard of Los Bermejales._Private Area: located on the center of the block and embraced by the different proposals. It consists of a green area that runs along the winding, creating different sub-spaces within their own area to be devoted to various uses, such as children's play area, meeting areas for the elderly, reading areas, and transit ... differ by the type of pavement. From public to private:Finally, in the southern part of the site, it is proposed a piece that works as a closure. This limit-piece works as a barrier to the outside and as a bank to the inside. The element is also designed in a way that saves the elevation difference between the inner square and the rest of the solar environment and neighborhood.

Leisure Centre in Sancti Petri. Chiclana de la FronteraHigher Technical School of Architecture of Seville - Projects 3 - Professor: Óscar Rodríguez - Academic Year 2006-2007

The environment of the Leisure Centre has been rearranged with the opening of a great ride that runs through the Village of Sancti Petri from north to south. The building consists of three parts that are implanted into the site, so that two of them are aligned to the edge of the plot, and the other is oriented in the direction of view of the Castle of Sancti Petri which is located at sea.The piece that is oriented to the Castle will be opened at the edge overlooking the beach, so as to create terraces for restaurants with a semi-outdoor, and with magnificent views of the beach and the Castle. The interior space created on the ground floor is partly protected by a curved roof that links the restore pieces with the trade and cinemas ones. Two great passages, one next to the communication core and another one in the stores, through the building at ground floor, so that the interior space is connected with the two walkways that surround the Leisure Centre.

FLOOR: The structure and distribution of the plant is always the same and very rigid. The building is designed to use separate male and female. It has two entrances (one male and one female), two stairways and a central space for sharing. My proposal is to break that order and create versatile spaces and related to each other, creating interesting routes, and entering the inside outside (courtyards). So a single entry have been placed in the pedestrian Priego de Córdoba, which is the busiest area.

plano situación

The intervention consists of two sub-pieces that come together in only one, where the different uses of the program will be located: one of the sub-pieces will be a five flats box, where the activities which involve music production will be located, and the other of a single height, will contain uses that don’t sound.A Music Box. A place where everything happens directly related to the music inside the building, a space that sounds. And where the different uses will be located in height, so that students will rise from ground level when they rise their musical level. Starting with the theory, through prefesor-student classrooms, to reach individual classrooms, reaching the top floor where are located the chamber, orchestra and choir rooms. The auditorium is located on the ground floor in order to maintain a more direct relationship with the environment, because of it needs to be an area whose use in some cases should be independent of the rest of the conservatory. The music box opens to the south, to receive this great light and illuminating all the same routes. In addition, the teacher-student classroom produces a cut in the south elevation, which breaks the continuity of the box, and shows the heart of the case.

AUDITORIUM

Acoustics conditions have been improved to enhance the acoustic comfort inside the room. The sound that comes from the musicians is reflected to the audience through the walls of the room. However it should be also reflected at the back of the performers so that they appreciate hearing as into the room. Therefore reflective panels will be placed on the roof of the auditorium.
