PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:

FujiFilm UK Head Office, Photo Imaging Department, Bedford.

CUSTOMER ACCOUNT CO-ORDINATOR | August 2015 – Current

Within this job I am involved with all steps from order processing to delivery and invoicing as well as taking direct payment when necessary. My main responsibility is to guarantee effective first line support for customers and key account management for orders of a specific product line which includes our most popular cameras (Instax range). The day-to-day duties are to ensure customer queries are seen through to completion and to the customers’ expectation and satisfaction. My primary key accounts include: Argos, Tesco & Dixons along with other major retailers and distributers. I am the sole contact for these 3 large retailers and therefore communicate on a daily basis to ensure that all requirements are met.

Bedford Borough Mayoral Election, Bedfordshire.

ASSISTANT CAMPAIGN CO-ORDINATOR FOR THE BEDFORD MAYOR CANDIDATE | March 2015 - May 2015

With an electorate of 124,833, it was my responsibility to work directly with the candidate and with campaign professionals to develop strategies to persuade the people of Bedford Borough to support the candidate and their causes. Working on a daily basis during arguably the most important and unpredictable election strengthened my understanding of the political world on both a local and a national level. This role also gave me a greater understanding of the needs and wants of the public through; helping to run the local campaign office, coordinating and training volunteers and distributing campaign materials. Along with the public interaction, I also contributed to marketing and promotional ideas for the campaign including; designing leaflets for the public and town billboards for the campaign as well as running social media websites, such as Twitter and Facebook, in order to keep the candidate accessible to the electorate. The success of encouraging people to vote was reflected in an increase of voter turnout, from 47% in the 2011 Bedford mayoral election to 66% in 2015.

Mercedes-Benz of Bedford (Sytner Group), Bedford.

STAR EXPERT (Product Specialist) | September 2014 - March 2015

Working in a premium retail environment in a demanding industry my job was to provide the best possible customer experience. This was a brand new role to Mercedes Benz UK in which I was the customers’ first port of call and worked very closely with the Reception, Sales, Service and Parts departments to ensure that my product information was up-to-date and relevant. I worked on major sales events, particularly during the busiest times of the motor industry (September and March). I also helped to organise successful prospecting campaigns which involved calling both new and existing customers to inform them about ongoing events and promotions, expanding my tele-communications skills. Taking responsibility for each individual who came into the company showroom, I ensured that I was both presentable and professional as a reflection of myself and the company.

Red Hot World Buffet Restaurant, Nottingham.

WAITRESS | January 2013 - November 2013

This job required being patient and calm particularly in the peak times of a new, busy restaurant and also staying well-balanced whilst completing my university studies. As one of the largest sites of this national franchise I had a key involvement in advertising this restaurant, which involved handing out fliers in the town centre and promoting the restaurant to my fellow students around the university campus at various student social events. I was immediately put in charge of my own waitressing section which on an average shift would involve serving at least 30 large tables. I was allocated a supervisor for my section of the restaurant and therefore was able to improve my skill of taking orders from higher authority and being delegated a variety of jobs whilst working alongside the fellow staff. The key skills gained from this job included how to deal with any customer problems whilst remaining confident and professional.

POST OFFICE CASHIER | December 2011 - September 2012

This job initially required working in the peak time of the Post Office calendar; Christmas. I immediately started work by training on-the-job as I had very little previous experience, therefore this job enhanced by learning abilities and proved that I was able to pick up new skills promptly and efficiently. Being the largest Post Office in this town, I gained huge experience of customer interaction during my time. Not only was I simply posting items off, I was also trained in taking professional passport and visa pictures, sending off passport applications, all the insurances that the Post Office covers and also foreign money exchanges. Due to the large sums of money involved in this job it proves that I was a trusted member of staff, and also being the youngest, the manager put a lot of responsibility in me. As well as improving my numerical, communication and verbal skills I also enhanced my promotion and marketing skills as the high objectives within the Post Office ensured that I had to work quickly and accurately to meet set targets.

Premier Stores Shop, Hitchin.

CHECKOUT CLARK | August 2009 - September 2011

I was responsible for the effective running of the shop which involves; serving and helping customers, managing queue length, dealing with customer complaints, shelving and replenishing stock. This job required full focus throughout each shift as it was a very large and busy store, ensuring that I had to be both attentive and active throughout the days. I had to use my strong initiative to ensure that all consumer goods where being sold to customers of the appropriate age demand, especially as the shop sold both alcohol and cigarettes. I was also given the responsibility at the end of every shift to complete the necessary paperwork and accounts for that days trading which meant using high levels of concentration and numeracy skills to complete the job accurately.

HOBBIES & INTERESTS

I am currently a 2nd Dan Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do, which I achieved after twelve years of dedicated and solid training. Competing at local and national competitions across the country and even an international competition in which I represented Great Britain, I was voted Student of the Year for my training club twice in five years, being the youngest recipient of the award so far. I also had the responsibility of teaching other members of the class of all different abilities and ages which greatly improved my communication, leadership and motivational skills.

As a member of a Harmonium (small Indian piano) class up until 2009, I was part of a team which helped organise and appear in a variety of charity and community functions including Rhythms of the World, one of the UK’s largest outdoor musical festivals. I often attend music festivals and concerts across the country as along with feeling liberated, I also enjoy the networking opportunities involved in meeting people of varying ages and backgrounds. I am an avid Arsenal supporter and have been a season ticket holder at the Emirates Stadium for nine years, regularly attending home fixtures and even nearby away games to support the team.

I regularly donate blood at my nearest donor centre, having volunteered six times so far, and I am currently training in the hope of completing the Bedford Half Marathon next year.
