Reon Anton Coetzee - CV summarized

What do I offer ?

An adult, responsible, experienced, self-motivated, energetic,

self-starter who is capable to take on and complete complex

assignments/projects with the minimum of training and

supervision.

What do I want when?

Ultimately I would like to work for a company (be it in the

insurance-, security-, or risk management industry) who will

best benefit from my skills and experience, and with whom I can

look forward to a long an mutually rewarding relationship.

Who am I ?

I saw the first light on 18 February 1963 and

after matriculating with university acceptance in

1980, I joined the South African Police Force

where I underwent formal training in all aspects

of police work, including law, administration,

practical policing, investigative techniques, use

of fire-arms, VIP protection etc.

Directly therafter I underwent further specialist

training in riot-control and was first stationed at the Riot

Unit, Diepkloof, Soweto. Needless to say, one gained intensive

experience at the time.

After 6 months I was retrained and deployed mainly as an

undercover investigator, and later instructor of undercover

agents specializing in clandestine information gathering,

surveillance and counter-surveillance in the Southern African

region.

During this period I studied part-time and obtained the 3-year

National Diploma Police Administration, and in 1984 became the

youngest commissioned officer in the SouthAfrican Police Force

yet at the time.

As the political scenario changed and the various police-,

military- and intelligence departments were restructured and

adjusted, I was transferred to serve in the Department Counter

Espionage of the the National Intelligence Service where I

received further expert training, was promoted and my

investigative, people and management skills were further

developed.

In 1989 I resigned and entered the market as a private

investigator. Although hiding in cupboards and taking dirty

pictures certainly was fun, I found myself more attracted to,

and increasingly successful in the investigation of insurance

fraud.

In 1992 I accepted a position as Regional Manager at Auto &

General Insurance Company, and successfully set up their in-

house investigation/loss adjustment department from scratch. It

meant developing the systems, recruiting and training the loss

adjusters/investigators (I believe that all loss adjusters

should do their work with an investigative eye) and effectively

put them to use in personal lines claims (motor, household,

buildings and health). It is here that I learnt most about

business and insurance - ratios, underwriting, marketing, sales,

systems, administration, claims and risk management in general.

In 1994 the company restructured, I left, found Coetzee &

Associates Claims Negotiators (Pty) Ltd South Africa, and

expanded into commercial, agricultural and disability claims.

During this period I not only conducted insurance fraud

investigations and loss adjusting projects, but have also on a

consulting basis been involved in for example:

1. The initial setting up of the claims process of Outsurance

Insurance Company, and doing their claims/investigations until

they reached critical mass and went in-house,

2. The re-engineering of the AA Insurance Company’s claims

process,

3. Streamlining and FAIS (Financial Advisory and Intermediary

Services Act, No 37 of 2000) readiness of Multinet Brokers

(shortly before it was purchased by PSG Konsult).

4. Developing and implementing systems to prevent and/or

identify fraudulent claims at various companies.

5. Analyzing and suggesting alternative claims procedures and

systems to enhance both client service as well as profitability

at ECA (Pty) Ltd.

From time to time I conducted training workshops around South

Africa.

Personal contact details of the relevant CEO’s, National Claims

Managers and others are available on request.

At the end of 2010 I scaled down my business in South Africa,

obtained a permanent residency permit B, and in March 2011

joined my Swiss wife where we currently live at Es-Bons, just

outside Aubonne, Switzerland.

Via the internet and a trusted network of associates in Southern

Africa, Coetzee & Associates continued to conduct limited

investigations and loss adjustment projects until I closed down

the business completely in 2012.

During the first year here, I spent my time between raising our

then two-year old daughter, running my businesses in South

Africa, assisting with various odd jobs on the farm where we

live, and a part time-job ploughing snow for the commune of

Aubonne.

Always looking for something to do, I researched and identified

the need for certain products within the English speaking

community in Switzerland, assembled a small team of independent

suppliers (and where necessary manufactured the products

myself), into a loose co-operation called Meat Point

(www.meatpoint.ch), qualified as a butcher in South Africa,

developed and commissioned a unique on-line platform to handle

stock, sales, admin and distribution for the team members, while

taking responsibility for the overall marketing, finances and

managing of the enterprise.

Meat Point is a platform for the online sales and delivery of

expat specialties like South African boerewors & biltong,

English sausages & bacon, pies (pastries) with a local twist,

farm fresh veggies, white & red wines, as well as selected

grocery items from the UK.

As part of the ongoing marketing and sales effort, I regularly

arrange and manage social- and catering events for groups

ranging from 20 - 200 persons.

My daughter is now 4.5 years old and have started school,

leaving me free to pursue a career within my area of experience.

I communicate easily with all walks of life, right down to

priests and politicians. I have a valid light vehicle driver’s

license, no criminal record, is quite computer literate, have

worked on a variety of main frame systems, and is fluent in MS

Word, Excel, Power Point etc.

Regretfully at this point in time I only speak, read and write

Afrikaans and English, but is working hard to learn Fench, with

Swiss German (quite close to my mother tongue Afrikaans) next on

the menu.
