8 QUALITY The respiratory department at Heart of England had a British Thoracic Society Peer Review in March 2004. We received detailed positive feedback about our good/excellent clinical services. Several areas were highlighted for improvement (e.g. respiratory services at Solihull Hospital), which I have subsequently helped as clinical director to improve. We had a Cystic Fibrosis Trust Peer Review carried out at our centre (we volunteered to have the review) which gave us a report praising the high quality of most of our services. As Director of the CF Service in Heartlands I have personally supervised improvements in some areas as recommended. Our Cystic Fibrosis Centre has had visits to see our facilities and mode of working from teams from many other CF units in the UK including Manchester, Kings College Hospital London, London Chest Hospital, Nottingham, Sheffield, Cardiff, Edinburgh and Stoke. We have also had visitors from CF centres in Dublin and Moscow. I led a BTS Peer Review of respiratory services at St Mary’s Hospital London in February 2005 and our report led to significant investment by senior managers. I led a Cystic Fibrosis Trust Peer Review at Kings College Hospital London in March 2007. Our report again led to significant improvements being carried out after discussions with the chief executive. I was a member of a Cystic Fibrosis Trust Peer Review team that visited City Hospital Nottingham on June 4th 2008. The report is being finalised. I am co-author of our Trust’s guidelines on Community and Hospital Acquired Pneumonia. I was lead member of a Cystic Fibrosis Trust Peer Review team that visited Bristol Royal Infirmary in July 2009. I also led a peer review re-visit to the same Bristol unit on 15/07/2010. I was external reviewer on behalf of the Royal College of Physicians London for the BTS guidelines on advanced diagnostic and therapeutic flexible bronchoscopy, June 2010. I was external reviewer on behalf of the Royal College of Physicians London for the BTS guidelines on Asthma management, March 2011 RECENT AWARDS Chairman’s Partnership and Multidisciplinary Award 2006 for the Adult Cystic Fibrosis Team at Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust.
