Novel Ru Complex of MethyldiphenylcyclopentadienylideAbstractYlide CpPMePh2 was synthesizing by the deprotonation of ylide salt of iodide by using different

deprotonating agent like n butyl Li, NaH, (CH3)2N Li, isopropyl Li and ((CH3)3Si)2N.Li. Out of all these

deprotonating agents only ((CH3)3Si)2N.Li worked and gave pure ylide and better yield. Its complex of

Ru was synthesized. A RuCl2(PPh3)3 complex reacted with the freshly synthesized ylide gave

successful required ruthenium complex, other all attempts of synthesizing Ru complex were failed. The

synthesized [Ru(PPh3)3(CpPMePh2)2]Cl2 complex was analyzed and verified by 1H and 31P NMR, but the

% yield was very low approx. 24 %.

(Synthesis, Characterization and structure determination of Fluoro and non-Flouro Schiff Bases and their

study as free ligands in comparison with their coordinated complexes.)

Abstract: (Ph.D Thesis)

Schiff Bases of fluoro and non-fluoro substituted anilines with (a) substituted and unsubstituted

salicylaldehyde and (b) fluoro- and non-fluoro substituted 2,4-pentendione and their Cu(II), Co(II),

Co(III), and Ni(II) complexes were synthesized and characterized using different spectroscopic methods

i.e UV, IR, NMR, Mass Spectroscopy. Many of the ligands and some of the Cu(II) complexes were

structurally determined by X-ray diffraction. The geometry of the free ligands was compared with that

found in the complexes.

Page 2: CV 22-09-15 - updated

2The preparation of Salicylidene anilines was straightforward most of them were isolated as

crystals. They are stable in solid and solution forms. Except SAL3,5(CF3)2, majority of the

Salicylideneanilines show strong intramolecular hydrogen-bonding. The preparation of 4-Amino-3-

penten-2-ones was attempted, most of them were isolated in a very impure form and were purified by

sublimation. The structures of all of the 4-amino-3penten-2-ones show inter- and intramolecular

hydrogen bonding. Preparation of complexes of Co(II), Co(III), Ni(II) and Cu(II) with salicylideneanilines

was achieved and were characterized by various spectroscopic methods. Crystals of Cu(II) complexes

were grown and their structures determined by X-rays, a significant change in bond lengths of bonds of

the coordinated elements O and N in most of the complexes is noticed.

Anhydrous bis[acetylacetonato]Co(II) complex was structurally determined by X-ray diffraction,

and was found to be square planar. Its bond lengths, bond angles and geometry was compared with

some other anhydrous and aqua monomers and polymers of M(II) [Cu(II), Co(II), Cr(II), Ni(II) and Zn(II)]

complexes.
