About “cutting It”
Cutting it is a BBC drama about the traumatic life of a hairdresser, her messed up family life, her rivals and her fiancé who is also her business partner and also her battle with cancer.The extract gives an indication of the genre by the sequence of bad luck, which is unlikely in real life. Also through having a lot of different mini- stories going on within one big story containing just two people.

Micro Feature: Editing
Editing generates meaning in the extract by: Pacing the editing throughout the scene, like creating slow
opening shots to show the couples affection for each other. Shows the woman's dominance by giving her slightly more
attention and also her facial expressions, e.g. when she insists on attending her appointment alone.
Time- scale changed to show empesis on the situation e.g. when she gets run over.
Cross cutting in the final scene building up the impact of what has just happened.
Lots of different angled point of view shots to show build up tension.

Control of the scene
In the scene the woman is shown to be in control as she has more attention on her from the cameras, and also not telling the man where they are really going in the taxi, this shows she has control over the situation. As well as this she gets her own way when she insists on attending the appointment alone.
