Pennine Healthcare, where every customised procedure

pack is planned, prepared and produced with passion

and pride.

Pennine Healthcare pioneered the manufacture of

customised procedure packs (CPP’s) in the United

Kingdom, with the first pack being produced in 1992

after seeing the success of the concept in the United

States. After starting with cardiac surgery procedure

packs, arguably the most demanding surgical

specialism, Pennine have knowledge and experience in

the development of CPP’s for all types of surgery.

Pennine Healthcare produces over 800,000 customised

procedure packs a year, covering a vast range of

medical and surgical specialities for hospitals in

countries around the globe.

At Pennine our objective is that our customers have

the most positive experience in their journey towards

a Custom Procedure Pack system. With over 22

years of experience, we can understand their needs,

and requirements, offering quotations, samples, first

production and implementation within a few weeks.

The founders and senior managers at Pennine know

there is a choice of partner and will ensure the resources

and skills are in place to highlight Pennine as a preferred

partner. Pennine procedure packs are all about

partnership, and we take responsibility for all aspects of

a procedure pack system. We understand at the end of

the process there is a surgeon and a patient - the true

beneficiaries of all our endeavours.

At Pennine we know our most important resource

is our team of friendly, highly skilled, trained and

experienced staff. Many functional teams are involved in

the development of each pack, from quality assurance

and regulatory affairs through to purchasing and

procurement to specialist IT professionals.

All areas will ensure the languages and translations

required on the packaging and labelling is accurate

and efficiently implemented. Each stage of the journey

will be managed by a competent and committed team

member ensuring that from the initial enquiry, your

specific component and presentation needs are met.

From receipt of first order, an internal account

manager will have responsibility to liaise with planners,

procurement, production and logistics to ensure a

smooth pack implementation.

Our production staff work to strict operating

procedures and each manufacturing batch is

controlled by computerised photographic records

on the manufacturing line. This ensures each pack is

made exactly to specification and that the layout and

packaging is consistent from batch to batch.

Our FacilityProduction takes place in a spacious, dedicated

and purpose built cleanroom laid out with specific

production lines for differing pack types. The clean

room provides semi automation, and allows specialist

staff to utilise their skills and experience appropriately

and ensure assembly and final wrapping is not only

protective and functional, but aesthetically pleasing.

Our SkillsPennine’s unique feature is its 40 year history of the

production of medical disposables; these engineering

and manufacturing skills so perfectly complement the

manufacture of Custom Procedure Packs. Our team

include specialists in many areas of design, engineering

and IT. Their skills are used to not only design and

manufacture products and CPP’s efficiently and cost

effectively, but to bring innovation and automation to our

designs and processes.

We pride ourselves on the introduction of cutting edge

technologies, with an in house engineering facility to

rapidly prototype ideas and implement state of the art

new practice.

In addition to CPP’s, Pennine has a core range of single

use devices for surgical suction which are made in the

same factory, making them readily available for inclusion

as the basis of many CPP’s. Our in house manufactured

products now extend to holloware and a range of

diathermy disposables, many of which are used in our

procedure packs.

07. 08.Our Facility& Our Skills

Pennine Healthcare has been manufacturing high

quality procedure packs for over two decades and was

one of the first companies in Europe to be registered

with the UK Medical Device Agency (now known as the

Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency

or MHRA).

Pennine now manufacture packs for sale around the

world with quality assured by our Quality Management

System accreditation to the internationally recognised

ISO-13485: 2012 and ISO-9001:2008 standards.

Our purpose built manufacturing facility is also

subject to inspection against the requirements of

medicinal products regulations and we have a Good

Manufacturing Practice (GMP) certificate issued by

the MHRA in compliance with the Orange Guide.

In line with Article 12 of the EU Medical Device Directive

only the highest quality CE marked medical devices

are included in our procedure packs, and they are

assembled in state of the art cleanrooms with up to

date GMP controls.

Our Quality Management System is continually

improving and by keeping all development in house,

this enables us to set stringent quality standards

required to meet our ‘right first time’ approach.
