HMP Thameside, The new SERCO run prison on the banks of the Thames. Guy Baulf, the Director, talks on the complexities of opening such a huge establishment and its daily operations. CATERING, HMP PARC opened its new staff catering facility in 2012. Its aims being to train inmates to work in catering. We return to discuss its success. EDUCATION, HMP LEWIS recently won an award for having the best prison library in the country. We visited to interview the Head of Education and the Chief Librarian to find out what they do to make the library so accessible. THE INvISIBLE WALLS PROjECT is designed to keep families together whilst on parent is inside. We visit the latest prison to take up this scheme. CfBT EDUCATION TRUST write on employer’s attitudes to recruiting ex‐offenders: highlighting how em-ployers believe they have a civic duty to employ and help re‐integrate ex‐offenders, but lack confidence in their potential abilities and the education and re-training they receive in prison. RECYCLING. The Prison Service has targets for reducing energy waste, sustainable development and recycling.
