El artículo determinante o definido
El artículo definido o determinante se traduce en inglés por The. Es invariable ycorresponde a las formas españolas el, la, los, las.
Ejemplos:

Los números cardinales
Del 1 al 12: one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven, twelve.
Del 13 al 19 tienen la terminacion -een (la terminación suena como <tin>): thirteen, fourteen, fifteen, sixteen, seventeen, eighteen, nineteen.
20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90 tienen la terminación -ty ( la terminación suenacomo <ti>):
twenty, thirty, forty, fifty, sixty, seventy, eighty, ninety
Para formar las decenas se añade un guión después de la decenas y el número: twenty-one, twenty-two, twenty-three.... (ventiuno, ventidos, ventitres....)forty-one, fifty-two, ninety-eight.. (cuarenta y uno, cincuenta y dos, noventa y
ocho...)
Para las centenas sería: a / one hundred, two hundred .....(cien, doscientos...)
Para unir las centenas con las decenas se le añadirá and .

Los números ordinales
Primero, segundo y tercero son así: 1st first, 2nd second, 3rd third...
Del cuarto al decimoavo tienen la terminación -th: 4th fourth, 5th fifth, 6th sixth, 7th seventh, 8th eighth, 9th ninth, 10th tenth,
11th eleventh12th twelfth, 13th thirteenth, 14th fourteenth, 15th fifteenth, 16th sixteenth...
Las decenas, millares y el millón también tienen la terminación -th: 20th twentieth, 30th thirtieth, 40th fortieth, 80th eightieth ... (la terminación
suena como <tiez>)100th hundredth, 1000 thousandth, 1.000.000th millionth
Para formar las decenas, al igual que los cardinales, pero la terminación -th latienen las unidades, las decenas entonces se escribirán como los cardinales.
21st twenty-first, 22nd twenty-second, 23rd twenty-third, 24th twenty-fourth
Nota: Al poner el número solo, se le añade la terminación de este, quesiempre será -th, excepto el primero, segundo y tercero que son diferentes alresto, en los cuales sería terminación -st, -nd y -rd.

Singular y plural de los sutantivos
Reglas gramaticales
A la mayoria de nombres se les agrega una s final para formar el plural.ejemplos
camera / cameraspen / penscup / cupscar / cars
Para formar el plural a los nombres acabados en -ch, -sh, -s, o -x, se les añade -es.ejemplos glass / glasseswatch / watchesbrush / brushesbus / busesbox / boxes
Para formar el plural a los nombres acabos en -y se elimina la letra y y se añade laterminación -ies.ejemplos city / citiesparty / parties
Para los acabados en -f o -fe se elimina la -f o -fe y se añade -ves.ejemplos wife / wives
Muchos sustantivos se pluralizan de un modo irregular, existen dos casos:caso 1 Cuando el singular y plural no cambian.
ejemplos fish (pez o pescado) singularfish (peces o pescados) plural
sheep (oveja) singularsheep (ovejas) plural
caso 2
Cuando el plural varía de modo irregular. Por lo tanto, no existe regla la cual se puedaseguir y hay que aprenderse las formas irregulares de cada uno.

Para formar esta pregunta corta utilizaremos el auxiliar de la frase principal y su sujeto

Los Adverbios
Un adverbio es la palabra que normalmente acompaña al verbo para modificar susignificado. Un adverbio también puede modificar a los adjetivos o a otros adverbios.
Ejemplo: They write. (ellos escriben)They write quickly. (ellos escriben de prisa).En este ejemplo quickly es un adverbio de modo que modifica al verbo to write paraexpresar que escriben de prisa.
Tipos de adverbios
adverbios de tiempo: last week, soon, now... Estos responden a la pregunta de:¿cuándo?
adverbios de lugar: at home, abroad, everywhere... Estos responden a la preguntade: ¿dónde?
adverbios de grado: less, much, more... Estos responden a la pregunta de: ¿cuánto?adverbios de modo: aloud, fast, hard, low... Estos responden a la pregunta de:
¿cómo?adverbios de frecuencia: sometimes, usually... Estos responden a la pregunta de:
¿con qué frecuencia?¿cuántas veces?adverbios de afirmación o razón: certainly, likely, neither, moreover...Estos dicen
algo sobre la situación descrita en la oración.
El orden de los adverbios en una frase
Hay cuatro posiciones en una oración donde puede ir un adverbio:Al principio de la oración. Ejemplo: Every day she goes swimming.En el medio (al lado del verbo y después del objeto si lo hay). Ejemplo: We never said
it.Al final. Ejemplo:The boy opened the door carefully.Entre el auxiliar y participio. Ejemplo: She has always been very clever.
Los adverbios de lugar y de tiempo normalmente van al final de la oración.
ejemplo: We went to the cinema this weekend.
Los adeverbios de frecuencia normalmente van en el medio de la oración.ejemplo: I've always thought you loved me.Los adverbios: normally, usually, often, sometimes, every day, once a week ... ademáspueden ir al principio o al final de la oración.
Los adverbios de modo normalmente van al final de la frase, aunque los adverbioscon terminación -ly pueden ir en el medio.

Los adverbios de afirmación o razón pueden ir a principio, en medio o a final de laoración. A excepción de also que suele ir en medio de la oración y too / as well que
van al final.ejemplos: Maybe we will meet on holidays.I also cried in this film.I cried in this film, too / as well.
Formar adverbios con la terminación -ly
Muchos adverbios son formados a partir de adjetivos añadiéndoles la terminación -lyque equivale a la terminación en castellano de -mente:ejemplo: honest --> honestly (honrado - honradamente)
Aunque para ciertos adjetivos existen unas reglas a seguir:1. La regla general es añadir la terminación -ly al adjetivo.
slow - slowly
2. Los adjetivos terminados en consonante -y, cambian la terminación -y por la de -ily
easy - easily
3. Adjetivos terminados en ic: se cambia la terminación -ic por -ically
automatic - automatically
4. Adjetivos terminados en -le, se cambia la terminación -le por -ly.

Los comparativos y los superlativos
Reglas para formar las comparaciones y los superlativos:
Para adjetivos cortos o de una sílaba: Comparación:
Para formar comparaciones se le añade al adjetivo la terminación -er. por ejemplo al adjetivo fast (rápido) acabaría con -er: faster (más rápido)
ejemplo: A train is faster than a bicycle.(Un tren es más rápido que una bicicleta.)

Para adjetivos acabados en "y" de dos sílabas: Comparación:
Para formar comparaciones se le añade al adjetivo la terminación -er. La y final se sustituirá por la i latina. Por ejemplo al adjetivo easy (fácil) acabaría con -ier: easier (más fácil)
ejemplo: This work is easier than yours. (Este trabajo es más facil que el tuyo)
Superlativo: Para formar el superlativo el adjetivo acabará con -iest. Siempre irá precedido por el artículo The. Por ejemplo el adjetivo ugly (feo) acabaría con -iest: the ugliest (el más feo)
ejemplo: This man is the ugliest. (Este hombre es el más feo )
Para adjetivos largos de dos, tres y cuatro sílabas: Comparación:
Para formar comparaciones, el adjetivo irá precedido de la palabra more.
por ejemplo al adjetivo modern (moderno) sería more modern (más moderno) ejemplo: This house is more modern. (Esta casa es más moderna)
Superlativo: Para formar el superlativo, el adjetivo irá precedido por : The + more
El adjetivo beautiful (hermoso) sería: The most beautiful (el más hermoso). ejemplo: This woman is the most beautiful. (esta mujer es la más hermosa).
Los adjetivos irregulares: Son unos adjetivos que tienen sintaxis particular para comparaciones y superlativos:

También podemos expresar una duración hablando del pasado: for all day, for years,for thirty minutes...
ejemplo:Tomy talked with me for two hours. (Tom habló conmigo durante dos horas.)
Pasado continuo / Past continuous sintaxis: sujeto + was / were + verbo + ing // nota: was/were es la forma en pasadodel verbo to be (ser/estar) Lo utilizamos para hablar de una acción concreta que comenzó y acabó en el pasadodando la idea de una duración continuada.

Presente progresivo o contininuo y going to como futuro.
Presente continuo (Present continuos) como futuro sintaxis: sujeto + TO BE + verbo + ING
Lo usamos para hablar de algo que ya esta decidido que haremos en el futuro.
ejemplo : I'm meeting a friend this evening. (he quedado con un amigo esta noche)What are you doing next weekend? (¿que vas a hacer este fin de semana?)
Going to sintaxis: sujeto + TO BE + TO + verbo
Lo usamos para hablar de algo que acabamos de decidir que vamos a hacer en elfuturo.ejemplo : I' m going to write some letters this evening. (voy a escribir unas cartas estanoche)
Lo usamos cuando vemos una acción futura a causa de una situación del presente ejemplo: Look. That man is going to fall into the river! Las frases condicionales Primer condicional / First Conditional
Indica que la condición es muy probable que se cumpla.sintaxis: afirmativa: IF + presente simple,... + futuro simple interrogativa: Futuro simple + if + presente simple ?ejemplos: If I work hard, I will pass my exams. (si trabajo duro, aprobaré mis exámenes) If we don't hurry up, we will be late. (si no nos damos prisa, haremos tarde) What will you do if you don't go to university? (¿que harás si no vas a la

Segundo condicional / Second Conditional Usado en casos hipotéticos, que son situaciones imaginarias o poco posibles.
sintaxis:afirmativa: IF + pasado simple ,..+ condicional simple (would/could)ejemplo: If I studied, I would/could pass. (si estudiara, aprobaría el examen) If I won the lottery, I would be rich. (si ganara la lotería, sería rico)
Tercer condicional / Third Conditional Indica una condición en el pasado que no se cumplió como se esperaba.sintaxis:
afirmativa: IF + pasado perfecto , ..........condicional perfecto (would have).ejemplo: If you hadn't made that mistake, you'd have passed your test. (si tu no hubieras cometido ese error, habrias aprobado el test).
Otros casosExisten otras maneras de construir frases condicionales: sintaxis 1: IF + presente simple , ... presente simple. ejemplo: If you heat water, it boils. (si calientas agua, hierve) sintaxis 2: IF + presente simple , ... imperativo.ejemplo: If you don't come, tell it to me. Might Es el pasado de may. También se usa para expresar una eventualidad pero con másprobabilidad.

Must Se utiliza cuando pensamos o realizamos algo que es necesario o muy probable. La forma negativa equivale a una prohibición. Para hablar en pasado o futuro debemos usar el modal have to. Ejemplos
I must really tired. I must go home now. (Estoy realmente cansado. Me tengo que ir a casaahora)
You must keep your room tidy.(Debes conservar tu habitación ordenada.)

Have to Lo utilizamos para expresar que algo es necesario.Para formular la pregunta y la negación debemos utilizar el auxiliar do.

Usos de la frase pasiva Usamos la frase pasiva cuando queremos dar importancia a "lo que pasó" más que aquién hizo la acción.
ejemplo: Her bag was stolen. (su bolso fué robado) nota: aquí no sabemos quién hizola acción.
También se usa la pasiva para mantener un mismo sujeto en varias frases: ejemplo: I had a bad experience. I was interrogated for two hours by the police.....
(tuve una mala experiencia, fui interrogado durante dos horas por lapolicía...)
En este ejemplo la persona habla de sus experiencias y se mantiene ellamisma como sujeto.
También usamos la pasiva para describir procesos científicos. ejemplo:

Regla gramatical
Existen cuatro tipos de phrasal verbs:
1) verbo + adverbio (no objeto)
El verbo no podrá ir separado por otras palabras.ejemplo: get on= llevarse bien con alguién, tener una buena realción.My parents don't get on well. (Mis padres no se llevan bien)
2) verbo + adverbio + objeto/verbo + objeto + adverbio El verbo y el adverbio pueden ir separados, pero si el objeto fuera un pronombre

Lo usamos para hablar de algo que empezó en el pasado y continua en el presente. ejemplo : I have been here for two hours.
He estado aquí durante dos horas. For aquí significa durante, se podría usar con:a long time (hace tiempo), a moment (un momento), ever (de siempre), a
century (un siglo)...
ejemplo : Mrs Fish has been a teacher since 1955La señora Fish ha sido profesora desde 1955.Since significa desde, se podría usar con:

Usamos just, already y yet con el present perfect:ejemplo: Diana has just gone out (a short time before now)Diana se ha acabado de ir ( hace poco rato )

Used to / Acostumbraba a... ó Solía...
Otra forma de hablar sobre el pasado, cuando quieres hablar de algo que solias hacerhace tiempo pero que ya no lo haces. Expresa lo que era verdadero en un tiempopasado y ya no lo es.

Pretérito perfecto progresivo / Present perfect continuos
sintaxis: sujeto + have / has + been (participio del verbo to be) + verbo eninfinitivo + terminación ing
Lo usamos cuando queremos expresar el sentido de la continuidad de una acción queha comenzado en el pasado y que dura todavía en el presente o que acaba determinar.
Entonces utilizamos el pretérito perfecto progresivo para referirnos a algo que hemosestado haciendo en un período de tiempo, por ejemplo: for two weeks, for two hours,for five minutes, since yesterday...
ejemplo1 :
I'm very angry. I have been waiting for two hours! (Estoy muy enfadada. He estadoesperando durante dos horas!.)En este caso la acción empezó en el pasado y acaba de terminar pero los efectos oconsecuencias de la acción duran en estos momentos, que sería estar enfadados.
ejemplo2:
I have been working in this issue since the morning. -now I'm still working on it- (Heestado trabajando en este asunto desde la mañana -ahora todavía estoy trabajando enél-)En este caso he estado realizando una acción en el pasado, que todavía continuorealizando.
ejemplo3: I'm tired because I have been walking all the day. (Estoy cansado porque he estadocaminando todo el día.)En este caso nos habla de una acción que empezó en el pasado y que acaba determinar y por la cual estamos cansados ahora.
ejemplo4:
It has been raining all the day. (Ha estado lloviendo todo el día)En este caso la acción empezó en el pasado y continua en el presente.
ejemplo5: I think she has been crying. (Creo que ha estado llorando)Cuando no indicamos la duración de la acción damos a entender con el p.p.p que hasido recientemente.

Ejercicio: Clasificar expresiones según For y Since.
Usamos for y since (durante y desde) para referirnos a un período de tiempo específiconormalmente del pasado.
En este ejercicio te damos una serie de palabras y expresiones para que las clasifiquessegún consideres que al referirte a ellas deberías usar la palabra for o since.
Ejemplo: I have been waiting since 12:30. (He estado esperando desde las 12:30)
En este caso las 12:30 es la expresión a clasificar. La pondríamos en la columna delsince, ya que para referirnos a ese período de tiempo no podríamos usar for. No seríacorrecto: I have been waiting for 12:30
