BALTIC BLUE BIOTECHNOLOGY ALLIANCE
The Baltic Blue Biotechnology Alliancematches its users to the services, facilities and experts they need totake their product idea to the nextlevel
Blue biotechnology is a sector that has greatpotential as Europe moves towards a biobasedeconomy. It can be tapped for products such asnew drugs, biofuels, food and supplements. Italso promises to play a key role in thedevelopment of ecosystem services related toclean water. This potential is impressive but – todate – remains largely untapped, realisation isstill in its infancy.
The "Baltic Blue Biotechnology Alliance" projectis implemented within the EU INTERREGframework for the Baltic Sea Region (BSR). Theobjective of the project is to create acomprehensive offer of the BSR in the area ofblue biotechnology and to increase the numberof blue biotechnology enterprises.
FROM SCIENCE TO BUSINESS
One great difficulty in getting blue biotechproducts market ready is that not each andevery BSR country, considered by itself, canprovide all the resources and expertisenecessary to complete the journey from idea tofinished product. The Baltic Blue BiotechnologyAlliance aims to bridge this gap by developingand implementing optimal transnationalproduct development chains. These will enableefficient use of and comprehensive access tothe whole variety of facilities, (bio-)resourcesand expertises available within the region andbeyond, therefore pooling national capabilities.
The international conference represents a stepforward in the implementation of the BLUEGROWTH strategy of the European Union.Newest results in basic and applied science andsuccessful results of economic implementationwill be showcased.
Conference Topics
- Industrial application of marine organisms- Marine biomass production- Bioactive compounds- Marine alliances- Business development and legal aspects
