A Simple Curtain tutorialin 13 easy steps

What You11 need: Tape Measure (this is the most accu-

rate) Dont use a cloth measuringtape, especially if you are measuringfor window coverings. Seam Gauge Pins Thread Fabric (For this tutorial I used 3.5yards 43 width) Iron

In this tutorial I am making valance size panels. For a bunk bed. Measure accord-ingly. Measuring for windows, With the tape measure, take the length and add approxi-mately 5 inches to allow for seams and (2 inch) slot for Spring Curtain Rod. Keep in mind also that this measurement is without a ruffled top edge. Pleaseallow for more inches in that case, then measure the width of the window andadd approximately two inches for finished seams on each side.

    * Now with that all out of the way, lets get started! *

    13. Insert Spring Tension Rod and adjust for hanging. Directions normally are included.Note: When cutting and measuring fabric for window coverings or curtain pleaseallow for gathering. That measurement usually counts for over half of windowmeasurement.Example: A window opening is 42 inches across, then just double the measurement.:84 inches of fabric across.Or think of it this way: 1 panel = 42 inches , sew 2 panels @ 42 inches each.
