1. GENERAL

T= K * FMM est * FMM rpt* sen ( δ)

4.4. Modo Paso a Paso “Inching”.

• Bajo voltaje Alimentador Principal Excitación y cicloconversor.

Increased productivity in the global competitive arena is excep-tionally important. It is no longer possible to secure cost-effectiveness without a high degree of automation. Further, inorder to achieve important competitive advantages, high per-formance and reliable automation systems must be used.

SIMADYN D is the system which can be used to implementhigh-dynamic performance technological- and closed-loop drivecontrols. This graphic, freely-configurable, modular controlsystem using multi-processor technology, processes all of theopen- and closed-loop control-, arithmetic- and communicationtasks of continuously changing data, and that at a high speed.

SIMADYN D guarantees reproducible process quantities, constant settings and optimization of the production speed withthe optimum quality. This allows machines and plants to beimplemented with significantly higher performance andaccuracy than before.

$SSOLFDWLRQV

As a result of the excellent performance, SIMADYN D isespecially suitable for all applications, where high controldynamic performance and arithmetic accuracy are demanded,or where comprehensive functionality is required. As it can befreely configured and the comprehensive spectrum of modules,SIMADYN D can be used for the widest range of applicationsand industrial sectors:

• Closed-loop torque-, speed- and position control for con-verter-fed DC and AC drives, e.g. for closed-loop synchro-nous operation-, dancer roll- or tension controls, winders,multi-motor drives, gear/motor test stands, complex setpointcalculations and closed-loop controls for cross-cutters,“breakage-proof” electrical shafts

• High-accuracy rolling mill drives• High dynamic performance hydraulic drives• Special applications using drive converters, e. g. for excita-

tion current control, high-voltage DC current transmission, static reactive power compensation systems

SIMADYN D control system for the highest performance

6,0$'<1'HYHU\ZKHUHZKHUHRWKHUVKDYHWRSDVV

SIMADYN D offers the ideal solution for drive tasks, where highspeed and comprehensive intelligence are required. Theadvantages are especially obvious, where, on one hand, a driveunit cannot provide the control-related tasks with the requiredscope, or with the necessary precision, or on the other hand, where an automation system (control, PLC) cannot offer therequired performance.

SIMADYN D offers an extremely cost-effective alternative tosmall user-specific open-loop and closed-loop control devices. It is available in various types of construction with subracksranging from low up to extremely high requirements, and thematching modules for closed-loop control, inputs/outputs andcommunications. In addition to effective engineering using afully-graphic program generation, the user has the benefit of allthe advantages of a standard product. A standard productwhich has proven itself over many years and in the widestrange of applications.

'HVLJQDQGPRGHRIRSHUDWLRQ

A SIMADYN D system consists of modular hardware andsoftware components, which can be configured using graphicsoftware tools.

The user combines the required CPU-, input/output- and com-munication modules corresponding to the task, and installsthem in a subrack. A fast real-time operating system processesthe configured tasks in cycle times, which can start at 100microseconds.

Comprehensive tasks, distributed over several CPU modules oreven over various subracks can be processed in the shortesttime using fast data transfer through high performance back-plane buses.

In addition to a central solution, where the open-loop andclosed-loop control functions for one or several drives isimplemented in a central SIMADYN D station (subrack), thehigh SIMADYN D system performance can also be used in theform of a plug-in card, a so-called SIMADYN D technologicalmodule, decentrally in drive converter units.

Using its standardized bus-capable links, SIMADYN D can beeasily networked with other automation systems and fielddevices.

For many years now, using SIMADYN D, closed-loop controlconcepts have been able to be developed and implemented aswell as tested on the target system directly on the screen usinggraphic engineering tools. Graphic software tools save time andreduce costs but still ensuring a high quality level. Theadvantages have a positive impact on all of the project phases:

• 8QLILHGWRROVUnified tools for configuring, test, start-up, maintenance andservice as well as when making changes and expanding thesystem

• )DVWVXFFHVVWhen it comes to this graphic configuring, it involves handlinga tool without any complicated syntax and semantics and theprogramming language can be easily learned. Suitable func-tion blocks are selected, using these tools, from a library, andare located as graphic symbol directly on a “worksheet” onthe screen. They are connected with one another or param-eterized with a click of the mouse. The signal flow entered ismade directly visible using a high-performance autorouter. Thus, the work is limited to selecting pre-configured, type-tested, reliable standard function blocks. Their function aswell as their input and output signalling is well described.

• 7UDQVSDUHQWVWUXFWXUHVComplex tasks can be broken-down into transparent partialtasks. This supports a structured approach, and simplifies theunderstanding and "getting back" into older concepts.

• $XWRPDWLFGRFXPHQWDWLRQAn authentic print-out can be generated of the configuredhardware and software at the push of a button. This meansthat the plant or system documentation can be automaticallygenerated and archived. A drawing, which was generallyused and took considerable time and money to generate, is athing of the past. The plant or system documentation can bekept continually up-to-date without incurring any expensesand data transfer errors when generating conventional draw-ings are avoided.

&)&DQG6758&FRQILJXULQJWRROV

All of the advantages of graphic engineering can be fully utilizedwith SIMADYN D using the modern Windows-PC basedSTEP 7 and CFC configuring tools (Continuous FunctionChart), or using the STRUC for UNIX-PC which has provenitself over many years. STEP 7 and CFC are tools belonging to the fully integratedSIMATIC automation concept. In addition to SIMATIC S7 andM7, SIMADYN D can also be configured using these tools. Thismeans that there is no longer a clear demarcation between thetechnologies and products of the automation- and drive worldas well as between central and distributed technology. Thus,SIMADYN D, which can be configured using STEP 7 and CFCis increasingly embedding itself into the SIMATIC automationenvironment.

The unified solutions of automation tasks is also characterizedby the fact that now, even the operator control and visualizationsystems (HMI systems) of the SIMATIC HMI family, such asoperator panels (OP/TD) and process visualization systemsbased on WinCC, can be connected to SIMADYN D.

Users, who use SIMATIC S7/M7 in their projects, already havethe basic STEP 7 software, and may even have the optionalCFC package. In order to configure SIMADYN D, only thesupplementary SIMADYN D-specific D7-SYS package isrequired. This includes the block libraries for the fasttechnological- and drive controls and the fast SIMADYN Drealtime operating system.

• SIMADYN D can be used to easily tackle every task using thefreely-graphic configuring with SIMATIC S7 software tools. The overall costs to generate automation and drive solutionsare significantly reduced, as time consuming, error-proneprogramming is no longer required, but instead, application-oriented engineering tools are used. A technology or processdiagram, thus generated, can be printed-out fordocumentation purposes, which is identical with the diagramshown on the screen.

• Using state-of-the-art CPU modules, extremely powerfulsystem buses for effective multi-computing and a fastoperating system, which is tailored to complex closed-loopcontrols, SIMADYN D can be used for applications of thehighest complexity and those requiring the highest dynamicperformance.

• As a result of the modular hardware and software design,SIMADYN D can be easily and optimally adapted to everytask, from small applications up to large systems and plants. There are none of the restrictions due to permanent functionsof a standard controller. SIMADYN D can be subsequentlysupplemented at any time when it comes to plant and systemexpansions.

• SIMADYN D can be easily connected to higher-levelautomation systems and secondary drive systems using thestandardized bus systems.

Overview of the hardware components

The SIMADYN D control system comprises modular hardwareand software components, which are selected and combined fora specific application.

The required modules are selected first. The type and numberof modules depends on the required peripheral functions (I/O),the communication links and the required computational per-formance.

&38PRGXOHV

A SIMADYN D system always includes one or several CPU- ortechnological modules. The configured user programs run onthese modules. For extremely complex tasks, several CPUmodules are used, or if many functions have to be processed inextremely short cycle times. There are various types of CPUmodules, which differ, especially as far as the following featuresare concerned:

• State-of-the-art, high-performance 32-bit technology(PM4/5/6, T400) permits cycle times for typical control loopsof approximately 0.5 ms. They are increasingly replacing 16-bit technology (PM16, PT.., PG..) with which typical cycletimes of approximately 4 ms can be achieved.

• 32-bit CPU modules can be configured using STEP 7/CFC orSTRUC; 16-bit CPU modules must be configured usingSTRUC.

• PM5 (PM4) for standard applications, PM6 for high-perfor-mance applications

• Technological modules (T400, PT10/PT20) have, with re-spect to the CPU modules (PM4/5/6) comprehensive onboardperipheral functions.

• Modules to gate line-commutated converters with SITORinterface:For 32-bit CPU modules (PM4/5/6), the SITOR ITDC expan-sion module is used; for 16-bit systems, the PG16,PG2...modules

A maximum of 8 CPU modules can be operated in a subrack. When configuring the system using STRUC, 16- and 32-bitCPU modules can be used and operated together. Only 32-bitCPU modules can be used when STEP 7/CFC is used.

The technological scope of SIMOVERT MASTERDRIVES6SE70 and SIMOVERT P 6SE12/6SE35 AC drives andSIMOREG K 6RA24 and SIMOREG DC-MASTER 6RA70 DCdrives can be expanded to include complex functions and at afavorable cost using the T400 or PT10/PT20 technologicalmodules. Standard ready-to-run application software isavailable for the technological modules. Additional serial linkscan be implemented with supplementary plug-in CS51/CS61communication modules as well as the communication modulesfrom the MASTERDRIVES family.

3URJUDPPHPRU\VXEPRGXOHV

The program, generated on a PC with STEP 7/CFC or STRUC,is loaded into a program memory submodule (MS..). Thismemory submodule is then inserted in the CPU module. TheMS5.. memory cards are used for the 32-bit CPU modules(PM4/5/6); the MS4.. memory modules for the 16-bit CPUmodules (PM16, PT.., PG..). The memory module also includea non-volatile memory for permanently saving online changes. The T400 has a soldered-in program memory.

For 32-bit CPU modules, analog, digital and incremental en-coder signals are connected, through input/output expansionmodules IT41/IT42, as well as via the ITDC SITOR convertermodules. Each 32-bit CPU module can be expanded by a max.2 IT..-modules.

The EA12, EB11, EM11 I/O modules, which can be used for the16- and 32-bit CPU modules can provide additional connectionsfor analog, digital and incremental encoder signals.

&RPPXQLFDWLRQVPRGXOHV

Powerful serial links can be implemented (PROFIBUS, Indus-trial Ethernet, fiber-optic cable subrack links) using communica-tions modules (CS..) and communication submodules which areplugged onto the modules. The CS7 carrier module is especiallyworth mentioning. A maximum of 3 SS4 communications mod-ules can be inserted (for DUST/USS protocols) or SS5, SS52(for PROFIBUS) into this carrier module. A SIMOLINK masterinterface ITSL is mounted directly onto a CPU module.

Communication possibilities with SIMADYN D

6XEUDFNV

The selected modules are operated in a SIMADYN D subrack(SR..). Depending on the number of required modules, sub-racks are available with between 6 and 24 slots. Extremely fastdata transfer between the modules is ensured using 2 high-performance backplane buses.

For extremely complex tasks, several subracks can be con-nected through an extremely fast fiber-optic cable link.

SIMADYN D SR6, SR12 and SR24 subracks

A maximum of 2 T400 technological modules can be inserted inthe compact SRT400 subrack. It offers an interesting solutionfor smaller applications, or lower-cost applications. The SRT400can be especially used, if the T400 and the associated standardconfigured software cannot be used in a Siemens AC converterSIMOVERT MASTERDRIVES or DC drive SIMOREGDC-MASTER.

As a result of its compact design, a SIMADYN D control systemdoes not take up much space and the installation requirementsare low so that it can also be used in office environments, e. g.for testing and training.

As a result of the high number of signals, the system- andprocess signals, which include, for example, analog, digital andincremental encoder signals, are not directly connected to theSIMADYN D modules, but via interface modules. Theseinterface modules have screw-plug-in terminals.

The interface modules (SA.., SE.., SU..) are snapped ontomounting rails in the cabinet, and are connected to the modulesthrough pre-assembled plug-in cables (SC..).

Analog signals can be isolated and adapted using these inter-face modules. Digital signals are displayed using LEDs, andcan be electrically isolated.

IntroductionConfiguring software

2YHUYLHZ

Siemens DA 99 • 1999 1/9

The required hardware and the program, running on the CPUmodules, are configured, using the following graphic configuringtools

• 67(3ZLWK&)&(“Continuous Function Chart“), or• 6758&(“Structogram language“)in the form of control-related function blocks, on a PC.

The STEP 7/CFC SIMATIC S7 configuring tools, based onWindows 95/98/NT, are increasingly replacing STRUC, runningon a UNIX-PC platform. In the future, comprehensive expandedfunctionality will preferably only be made using the STEP 7/CFCconfiguring interface. For the two configuring tools, identicalmachine code is generated, so that there will be no differencesbetween the computational performance and functionality.

With just a few exceptions (ref. sec. 11), all of the hardwarecomponents listed in this catalog, can be configured, both withSTEP 7/CFC as well as with STRUC. The exceptions, i. e. ifcertain hardware components can only be configured usingSTEP 7/CFC, or only with STRUC, are referred to with appro-priate symbols for those particular components.

Using these graphic tools, technological functions can bequickly, simply and reliably implemented in programs which areready to run.

When configuring, KDUGZDUHFRPSRQHQWVare selected froman electronic catalog, and placed on a drawing sheet. A subrackis first selected, and is equipped with the required modules. Themodules are then parameterized, menu-prompted.

The user program for the CPU modules is generated usingIXQFWLRQEORFNV. As for the hardware, the function blocks re-quired, are selected from an electronic catalog and located on adrawing sheet. The configuring engineer defines in which of the5 possible cycle times (tasks) and in which sequence, theblocks are located. The inputs of the function blocks can beassigned constant values (parameterized), or connected to theoutput of another block at the click of the mouse. An efficientautorouter transparently visualizes the signal connections.

Function blocks are available, for example, for the followingfunctions:

• Arithmetic functions (incl. trigonometrical functions)• Logic• Input/output, absolute- and incremental encoder sensing• Closed-loop control (ramp-function generator, PID controller)• Communications, operator control, signaling• Trace, diagnostics

The required SURJUDPIORZ, i. e. processing tasks in cycleswhich are repeated, or after process- or synchronizing alarmsare received, is controlled by defining the sequence in which theblocks are processed. Thus, the sampling time and the se-quence with which each block is processed within a samplingtime is defined.

Block diagram of a basic closed-loop speed control function

When configuring modules and function blocks, when the datais being entered, a fairly detailed FKHFN is made that it is logi-cally correct with the correct syntax. Appropriate fault messagesare output if incorrect entries are made. Further, configuring issimplified by using selection boxes, which offer, context-sensitive, the objects which can be used; for example, the sym-bolic addresses to access the peripheral (I/O).

The graphic editors automatically generate PDUJLQHQWULHV withthe destination- and source instructions and information for sig-nals which are used on several sheets. The function diagramscan be printed-out as documentation, and they are identical withthose which can be viewed on the screen.

The completed function diagrams are compiled in the machinecode and downloaded into the SURJUDPPHPRU\ of the CPUmodules. For STEP 7/CFC, this is realized using the PC-cardintegrated in the PC (PCMCIA) or, for STRUC, using aSIMADYN D programmer (PP1X, PP1I). Alternatively, theconfigured software can also be downloaded online from the PCinto the SIMADYN D modules via a serial link.

The program, running on the target hardware, can be WHVWHGand commissioned in an very user-friendly way and transpar-ently in the graphic function blocks. Windows are opened byclicking on the block inputs or outputs with the mouse. Thesewindows display the current values and allow a value to bechanged. The block connections can also be changed using themouse. It is also possible to delete and enter new functionblocks online (not for 16-bit modules). It is not possible tosimulate the configured software on the PC.

Complete pre-configured software applications, or only a part ofthem can be very simply ported to other types of CPU modulesor technological modules, e. g. from T400 to PM4/5/6 and viceversa.

Software, which was written in STRUC, can be essentiallyautomatically converted using the “6758&*FRQYHUVLRQSURJUDP” into CFC diagrams. This program is available at nocharge.

&FRGH, which the user generated, can be “packed” into a user-specific function block using a user function block generator. The user then has access to this block in his own library forcustomized configuring.

&RQILJXULQJZLWK67(3&)&

The SIMATIC Industrial Software offers various tools toimplement drive and automation tasks using SIMADYN D andSIMATIC S7/M7. In order to configure a SIMADYN D system, the STEP 7 and CFC SIMATIC software tools are used, whichmust be supplemented by the SIMADYN D-specific D7-SYSsoftware package.

'6<6 includes the SIMADYN D hardware and function blockcatalog, the fast SIMADYN D operating system, the codegenerator to generate the machine code from the CFC charts, and the driver software to connect the PC to the SIMADYN Dsystem.

STEP 7, CFC and D7-SYS are also available as a favorably-priced complete package “D7-ES“ (Engineering System).

The STEP 7 and CFC engineering tools can run on a PC withWindows 95/98/NT. They have an object-oriented WindowsHMI, which can be used to simply learn how to configure thehardware and technological functions. For example, using therighthand mouse-key, possible actions for an object, which waspreviously selected using the lefthand mouse-key (e. g. copy-ing, deleting, defining properties, etc.), can be selected context-sensitive.

The complete GRFXPHQWDWLRQ is also available online on thePC and can be called-up, context-sensitive, for theSTEP 7/CFC configuring environment and the SIMADYN D-specific expanded functionality.

The basic STEP 7 software includes the “SIMATIC Manager“and the “Hardware Configuration” software tools, used toconfigure a SIMADYN D system.

6,0$7,&0DQDJHU

The SIMATIC Manager administers all of the project data. Thisis realized independent of the target system, i.e. in the samefashion for both SIMATIC S7 and SIMADYN D.

The SIMATIC Manager also represents a common entry pointfor all SIMATIC software tools. For example, the hardwareconfiguration and CFC tools, required for SIMADYN D can beautomatically started by selecting the appropriate data (with adouble-click).

+DUGZDUHFRQILJXUDWLRQ³+:&RQILJ³

The HW Config tool is used to select and parameterize thehardware of a SIMADYN D or SIMATIC project.

In this case, the subracks and the required modules are se-lected from an electronic catalog and placed on the workingsheet. The subracks with the required number of slots are thenlocated in the rack. The characteristics of the modules, forexample, cycle times and the symbolic addresses for the inputsand outputs are defined using menu-prompted input masks.

For SIMADYN D the networks and distributed peripherals areconfigured via communication connections, for example,PROFIBUS or Industrial Ethernet by configuring the appropriatefunction blocks.

CFC is the block-oriented configuring tool, which configures theprogram which runs on the SIMADYN D CPU modules. A“drawing area” is available for each chart of 6 DIN A4 sheets.Any number of charts can be generated.

Using CFC, the function blocks can also be arranged in run-time groups, which can be activated or shutdown using a binarysignal.

CFC configured software, which was generated for theSIMADYN D target system, cannot be ported to other targetsystem such as, for example, SIMATIC S7/M7.

CFC charts can be directly printed from CFC. Further, it ispossible to generate documentation for the complete projectusing the optional '2&3526,0$7,&GRFXPHQWDWLRQV\VWHP(refer to Catalog ST70, Order No. 2ES7803-0CA00-0YE0).DOCPRO generates a standardized layout for CFC charts, andallows customer-specific information, for example, projectnames and IDs, to be printed-out in a user-defined text field.
