15. GRASSROOL LEVEL WORK EXPERIENCE

1. 2004, Worked in Tribal and Non-Tribal Villages of Assam (Bongaigaon) with

microfinance clients (especially women), Self Help Groups, Block level village officials

and Lead Bank to analyse the impact of largest credit-linked microfinance programme in

India on women’s empowerment and capability (in particular health and education).

2. 2004, Worked in villages of Orissa with microfinance clients (especially women), selected

Banks, Self Help Groups, District level government officials and NGOs to evaluate the

impact of Government-led microfinance programmes on women’s financial and social

empowerment and capability (with special reference to health and education).

3. 2003, Worked in rural areas of Rajasthan (Sriganganagar) with the households with micro

enterprises (especially refugees from Pakistan), Lead Bank and Block level officials to

evaluate the constraints in extending government-led microfinance programmes for the

relevant households; as well as the potential impact of microfinance on the intrahousehold

bargaining power of women. The exogenous factors for the non-cohesive formation of

Self help Groups at the village is also analyzed in the backdrop of households who were

yet to be recognized as Indian citizens.
