Research program includes analysis of factors leading to initiation of smoking among Young Chinese women, feasibility of smoking cessation in DOTS TB clinics in multiple International settings, establishing toxicity of environmental waste due to discarded to cigarette butts, and health diplomacy. 3/1/2011-Present: Founder and CEO of the Cigarette Butt Pollution Project, a 501c3 non-

profit public health advocacy organization based in San Marcos, CA. This group partners with environmental organizations, public health advocacy groups, elected representatives, and the public to reduce the environmental impact of discarded cigarette butts, the most commonly littered item in the world. CBPP has receive grant funding support for research and educational work from the National Institutes of Health, the Legacy Foundation, the Tobacco-related Disease Research Program of the University of California, the California Tobacco Control Program, private donors, and the World Health Organization.

4/1/04-12/31/08: Professor in Residence, Epidemiology and Biostatistics, University of

California, San Francisco Duties: Provided leadership in developing academic linkages, student educational experiences, curricula in global health, and global health research opportunities for faculty and students.
