RESEARCH EXPERIENCE Principle Investigator for commercial & non-commercial dermatology research at Royal Devon & Exeter hospital I employed the departments first ever dermatology research nurse generated from previous research and academic activities. BADBIR registry 2009-2014 Acne genetics 2009-2014 Psoriasis Body Image 2010-2012 Ingenol mebutate actinic keratosis study 2011-2013 LION psoriasis image study 2012-2014 Ingenol mebutate long-term SCC risk 2013-2014 PICTURE psoriasis body image study 2013-2014 SIGNATURE anti-TNF alpha failure sekukinumab study 2013-2014 COMBI melanoma stage 3 monoclonal antibody study 2013-2014 GCP registered –updated 2013 1997-2009 Ectoparasites I obtained a £2500 grant for two years to establish an ectoparasite research unit in the Bristol University Veterinary school from the Special Trustees of the University of Bristol Hospitals. This was awarded in open competition. Further funding has been acquired from the Bristol & Avon Dermatology Research Trust and industry. In 1997 with the help of Dr. GC Coles of the Veterinary Sciences dept., Bristol Veterinary School, we established from scratch a medical and veterinary ectoparasite research unit. My association is at a consultative level now, but the unit continues to thrive and publish good quality research. 1990 British Geriatric Society Prize: Clinical study measuring the changes in neurological and social indices in a cohort of stroke patients in London over a one year period. 1990 Elective project: Study of the psychological and social impact of leprosy in a Madagascan leper colony. 1987-8 B.Sc. project: Observed the changes in expression of MCH Class II glycoproteins on Schwann cell, in response to nerve injury.

TEACHING I regularly participated in the teaching of Bristol medical students as a dermatology registrar. As a consultant, I have organised and given lectures and tutorials to GPs, GP registrars, nurses, and medical students (including course work assessment) and participated in MRCP teaching. I help in the training of dermatology registrars and have encouraged a number of trainee led research projects and audits. I completed Peninsular Medical Students teaching badge, Sept 2005 and registrars training badge in 2010. I teach and examine postgraduate doctors taking the International Diploma in Dermatology. I organised the Clinical Assistants in Dermatology (CAM) national annual meeting 2005-2012. I organise and teach in the quarterly GP ‘skin forum’ clinical training sessions in Devon. I have been an educational mentor for dermatology registrars in training. I viva voce MSc and MD students on dermatology and laser theses. I have mentored two staff nurses through their prescribing courses in Exeter dermatology department and an additional staff nurse at Exeter Medical dermatology department. I have mentored one staff nurse through a MSc. in dermatological surgery in Exeter dermatology department. Biologics for psoriasis preceptorship program, Dept. Dermatology, Exeter 2009-13. This program was clinical teaching program aimed and up-skilling UK Consultant Dermatologist not familiar with prescribing biologic agents in clinical practice. I take an active teaching role on dermoscopy training GPs, plastic surgeons and dermatologists locally, regionally and nationally. I have published a DVD on basic dermoscopy as a teaching aid for GPs. I co-host the national basic and advanced dermoscopy training for doctors sponsored by the Primary Care dermatology Society. I co-host the annual national dermatology SpR (trainees) directed learning course for the dermatology trainee exam, London & Birmingham 2010-date. This course is now badged by British Association of Dermatologists. I have helped develop the DMC educational website for GPs.

MANAGEMENT SKILLS I attended a rolling course on management training, which covered presentation skills, appraisal, business planning, communication skills and interview techniques. 1996-1999.
