PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCES.
(I)CLINICAL PATHOLOGIST: Gertrude’s Children Hospital (Dec 2010- To date)
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provision of specialized clinical laboratory services and supervision of medical
laboratory technologists and phlebotomists.
Educate other health professionals and communities in the effective utilization of
laboratory diagnostic services for management of child health and pediatrics
Undertake relevant medical research and audit, to improve laboratory diagnostic
services.
Provision of leadership and direction in delivering of laboratory services.
Perform laboratory procedures on patients including bone marrow aspirates and
assist in the management of patients with relevant conditions, where appropriate
and as agreed with such clinician’s patients and the hospital.
Participate in priority and budget setting of the laboratory as well as development of
Annual Departmental plans.
Participate in planning and management of hospital clinical programs.
Lecturer in Clinical Pathology Department; Aga Khan University Hospital (January

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Preparation and delivering lectures and tutorials for case based learning topics as per the
curriculum.
Rotations on all the clinical laboratory benches and trouble shooting on the different
analyzers and solving bench problems.
Monitoring and evaluating the Quality Assurance process in the laboratory sections and
carrying out different audits.
Processing specimens for analysis and reporting blood films and bone marrow slides in
the Hematology Laboratory including immunophenotyping of hematological
malignancies.
Clinical Liaison with other health professionals and discussing better health management
of patients.
Providing consultancy and follow-up for hematological conditions in the hematology
clinics on a weekly basis.
Presentation and discussion in weekly Journal clubs.
Formulation of research proposal and execution of thesis study.

/Surgical Wards and out patient Special Clinics.
Pioneered in setting up a comprehensive care centre for HIV/AIDS patients in November
2004.
Daily care of the HIV/AIDS patients on follow-up in the comprehensive care centre.
Pioneered in setting up and starting the pediatric comprehensive care centre for children
living with HIV/AIDS – Sept 2005.
Member of the comprehensive care committee as a Vice Chairperson.
