LÍNEAS DE INVESTIGACIÓNRESEARCH LINES

My present research line is focused on the adaptation of cyanobacteria andmicroalgae to sudden environmental changes, as well as to extreme naturalenvironemnts. For this aim, we are studying if the adaptive mechanismsallowing the survival of phytoplankters to extreme conditions could beexplained as an acclimation process, or by the selection of genetic variants. This research line is carried out in collaboration with Dr. Eduardo Costasand Dra. Victoria López-Rodas (Department of Animal Production, Facultyof Veterinary, Complutense University, Madrid).

In the past, my research was focused on other topics such as ecologyand ecophysiology of deep-water kelps, and the effects of UV solarradiation on macroalgae.

As second interest, I continue with the identification of seaweedsinhabiting Andalousia shores in order to add more know to the biodiversityof marine plants.
