a. Officer in-charge of Linguistic Data Consortium for Indian Languages (LDC-IL):
Developed Corpus for 22 scheduled languages, Part-of-Speech and Chunking
annotation, conducted and supervised more than 100 training programmes/workshops
on Natural Language Processing with Universities and Institutions in different parts of
the country.

14. Work done as Officer In-charge of Schemes:
A. Linguistic Data Consortium for Indian Languages (LDC-IL): (April 2010 to till date)
This project aims to develop Annotated, Quality language data (Text, Speech & Sign
language) and tools in Indian Languages to the use of Individuals, Institutions and
Industry for Research & Development in Language Technology.
a) Supervised the team to develop corpus on Text (2-10 million) and Speech (100-150
hrs.) in the 22 scheduled languages and corpus on Indian Sign Language.
b) Supervised the team for conducting fieldworks for collection of text/ speech data in
22 languages.
c) Supervised the team for conducting more than 100 workshops/training
programmes/awareness programmes on Natural Language Processing in
collaboration with various institutions/universities in different parts of the country.
d) Organized various special lecture programmes by inviting experts in the NLP field
for the improvement of LDC-IL faculties.
e) Supervised more than 50 Short Term Goal Oriented Projects in LDC-IL to achieve
the scheduled targets in 22 Indian languages.
f) Conducted more than 50 expert‟s meetings/discussions to achieve the objectives of
LDC-IL.
g) Conducted and coordinated various Regional/National workshops/Seminars in
collaboration with different institutions/universities.
B. Scheme for Preservation and Protection for Endangered Languages (2013-15):
This scheme aims to study 520 Endangered Languages which are spoken by more/less
than 10,000 speakers in co-ordination with Principal Investigator‟s of different
universities/institutions. During 2013-15, 70 languages were selected on priority basis
and allotted to 36 Principal Investigator‟s of different universities.
C. Centre for Human Resource Development:
a) One of the organizers of New Linguistic Survey of India- Summer Camp held at
CIIL from 21-5-2008 to 30-06-2008 under the aegis of NLSI .Eight workshops on
Dravidian and Arial Linguistics were organized for 460 participants from all over
India.
b) Organized in the North Eastern Winter School of Linguistics during February 2008
at Shillong and co-ordinated the course on Sociolinguistics.
c) Rationalized the cadres and honorarium of staff who are working under various
projects by conveying meetings of recruitment committee and also participated in
the staff selection committee meetings as the conveyor of recruitment committee.

D. Bhasha Mandakini –Tamil
a) Cleared all the 28 pending visual episodes and finalized another 6 episodes during
this period. This includes minimum 4 sitting of duration 45 minutes per sitting
viz., pre-preview, preview, post-preview and final correction to review a single
episode. Completed 45 Visual Episodes on different topics related to Language,
Culture, Personality etc.
b) Allotted 35 new episodes to the producers by evaluating the academic and
production scripts.
c) Checked and corrected the Tamil dubbed version of 70 visual episodes.
d) Organized a documentary festival at Madurai to screen Tamil visual episodes for
public.
e) Organized the workshop to identify the titles for making Visual documentaries by
inviting 15 scholars from Tamilnadu during Sept. 2008
E. Central Scheme on Classical Tamil
As the financial coordinator of the scheme, coordinated several programmes
and participated in the Review Committee Meetings.
